Safety Plan

Making a safety plan involves identifying the steps you can take in keeping you and your children safe and helps to prepare you and your children in advance if there is a possibility of future violence.

If I believe that my partner will be violent, there are a number of things that I can do in advance. I can prepare to leave by doing some of the following things:

I will keep a suitecase, box, or bag _____________ where I can get to it quickly and easily. In it, I will keep as many of the following items as I can:

           - Extra set of keys                               - Health Records
            - Money                                              - Divorce/Custody Papers
            - Medications                                      - Identifications
            - Restraining Orders/Peace Bongs

I can consider opening a separate bank account in my name @ __________________ and request that any statement be sent to __________________.

I trust _________________ and _______________ to talk to about my situations. I will use a code word ________________ to let them know I am in danger and to contact RCMP immediately.

I will go to  _______________ or _________________ if I have to leave home.

I will look into memorizing a safety escape route and staying out of the bathroom, kitchen, and garage; where there is a potential access to weapons or rooms without access to an outside door.

I can report to RCMP if any violations of the court order has been breached and to notify the RCMP, if I decide to mote to another town.

I will go through my safety plan every __________________ and make any changes that is necessary to my situation, because I promise to keep myself and my children safe at all times.
