| *Fridays are different! We have Writer�s Workshop in the morning and then students need to complete any center work that they have not completed. If we didn�t get to do a math game during the week this is a good day for us to play it. Also we try to do some kind of hands-on cooking lesson on Friday related to the theme. |

| 8:30-9:15 Morning Work:
1. Word of the Day: Students come in and make a sentence using the word of the day. That word then goes up on the Word Wall. Word Wall words must be spelled right! These are also the sight words that and go home with your child on Friday. 2. Problem of the Day: Each day we will have a word problem that will go with the word of the day. 9:15- 9:40 Calendar: Each child receives their own monthly calendar to fill in and discuss important dates. 9:40 Bathroom Break 9:50- 10:25 Every Day Math: Each math lesson usually begins with the use of some kind of manipulative. Students learn how to use manipulative as a strategy to solve problems. Students then work on skills independently. Each week we will send home homework that follows the math lesson we have learned. The new skill is then introduced as a center activity for review and independent practice. 10:25-10:55 Rotation 11:00-11:30 Math: We will finish up with our math lesson and independent work will be completed at this time. 11:30- 12:15- Literacy Block: The literacy block begins with a guided reading lesson. It is then followed by an activity for students to either partner read, work in cooperative groups, writing activities or small group work. 12:15-12:40: Lunch 1:00-1:30 Literacy Block: After lunch will finish with our literacy block activities. 1:15- 2:00 Centers: After the guided reading time students independently work at centers. Center activities are based on skills taught and students pace themselves throughout the week to complete activities. The students keep track of what they need to complete through a menu. 2:00-2:30 Recess 2:30 Snack and discuss what is in mailbox. Students then get ready for dismissal. This is also a time for students to share. *This schedule applies to Monday- Thursday. |
