Angel Girls
                                                        ****Chapter 1****

April was a stunning, 12 year old girl. She had brown hair which was perpetually pulled back into two messy pig tails. She lives in East Bay, California, and has been waiting to be allowed to visit San Fransisco by herself. One day, after being bothered one too many times, April's mother let her go into The City, alone for the afternoon. April immediately ran to the grocery store down the road. She bought a bouquet of flowers that would last in the heat, and a handful of prepaid phone cards. She came home and kissed her mother. April was beyond excited. Her mother had no clue what April was up to with the things she purchased, but it was with the money April earned selling fruits, vegitables, and plants from her garden so she did not question her child.
Now, April went out into her garden and plucked the most juicest, reddest tomatoes off the vine, and the most suculant peaches off the tree, and brought them in to eat for lunch. After she ate with her mother, she brushed her hair, redid the already disasterous pony tails, and ushered her mother to the car. On the way to the car, She broke off a few tubes of aloe off the plant in the front, and put them in her bag. They drove the 30 minuted into The City. Her mother, Ella, was going to spend the time she had, a few blocks away.
The temperature had cooled down significantly once they reached The City, and it was around 80 degrees.
April was on the lookout for something. She carried her pink backpack which held 5 phone cards, flowers, a cell phone, a bottle of mineral water, the aloe, and a ten dollar bill. As she paced down the street passed the piers, she noticed a man lying next to a paper box, with wrappers, and rotting food.  She stopped dead in her tracks. It was not that April was afraid, or that she had neverr seen a homeless man, it was that she was excited. She was finally allowed to talk to one.
April looked around to make sure that there was someone else near her before approcahing the man. This man looked generally worried. He thought, 'why would a little girl be approaching me?' Well, he soon found out.
"How are you Sir?"
"Uhh, I, I'm good, thanks" said the homeless one.
"Its pretty cool today isn't it?" April questioned. She was overjoyed. He seemed like the friendly sort.
"Ya, Ya, it is. Hey, why is a beautiful girl like you, talking to a guy like me, and where in heaven is your mommy?"
"Oh, my mother is not in heaven," she giggled.
"I just wanted to talk to you. Do you really think I am beautiful?" Her eyes grew wider.
"Yes, I do missy, whats your name lil girl?"
Now April knew never to give her real name, so she gave the one she loved so much. "Noelle"
"Ok, Noelle, you have really made my day, I have been lying here, with an injured leg, praying for an angel to come and help me, and you arrives. What luck I have. By the way, my name is Aubry."
"What's wrong with your leg, can I see it?' She realized that she could trust this man.
"You want to see my leg? Ok." Then Aubry pulls up the leg of his pants. He had a flesh wound the sixe of a frisby, and it obviously hadn't had any medical attention.
"Can I fix it?" April inquired.
"Oh, I wish you could fix it my dear little one."
April pulls her backpack around to the front, unxips it, and pulls out the aloe.
"This is magick. I am going to put this on you."
Aubry, thinking she was meerly wishing to play doctor, obliged. April squeezed the aloe out of the skin and applyed all of it to his wound. He thanked her...thinking it would not work, put the leg of his pants down.
"You are such a sweet girl, are you sure you are not an angel? Embarrassed, April pulled out a pink carnation. It had a little tubeof water and vitamins attached to the tip to keep it alive for a while. She handed it to Aubry. His eyes started to well up.
"No one has ever given me a flower before."
"Well, there is a first time for everything, right this is the first time I have ever given a flower."
They spoke for another 10 minutes or so, but then April realized that she needed to leave, and call to check in with her mother. She told him that she had to go.
"Well, I know that I'll see you again" Aubry said.
"How is that?"
"Becuase I'll be seeing you in heaven".
April handed him the phone card and told him to call someone to help him get off the streets.
"You are a real angel . Now I can call someone to sew up my leg."
"You won't need to."
Aubry lifted his pants up, his entire leg had healed.
April leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. She could smell the rotting food, the oily hair and skin and the perspiration, but she was still happy. She made his day, and he made hers. She smiled, and walked to the closest pier to call her mom. This had been the best day of her 12 years.
