Our First Steps

"When I Dance" is the second in the interactive multimedia series:
SPONTANEOUS DANCE.

Sometimes it happens in a ballroom at other times in the bathroom. It can be grand, formal, choreographed, public, intimate or occur without you being aware. Dance, something we've all done for a number of reasons. But do we need reason or just opportunity?

WHEN I DANCE
Web-based program expresses physical and emotional responses and memories evoked by dance.
Visitors are asked to share dance experiences - major, minor and those in between. In crowds, in showers and office building elevators they're doing it everywhere. We've found the nuance of dance can be healing, therapeutic, inspiring and inherit to all of us.
Important? I don't know. Cool to watch? You bettcha. Something to take advantage of? Why not?

DANCE HERE!
Interactive media production features video footage of on-site dance works, music soundtrack, prints and live video feed of "participants" that step up to an x-marked spot labeled, DANCE HERE!
In a thirty-day installation, hundreds of gallery visitors viewed dance images as well as one another as many accepted the invitation to dance. Children and the young at heart had the most fun. Many returning for sequels and development of their on-air presentation. As a whole, men tended to pull in their middles and women to smooth out and tuck in hips and bottoms. But a surprising number went right for the boogie, like they were looking for just this spot, this opportunity to dance.
