LHHS Library FAQ's

Welcome to LHHS Library Services

Library Hours

School Days 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday evenings 5:00 to 7:00pm

Library Staff

Mrs. Slim, Librarian

Mrs. Jacobson, Library Tech

You may come into the library any time before or after school, at break or at lunch.
During class time you must have a written pass from your teacher.  If you have no class assigned during the period that you come into the library, be sure to sign in on the clipboard at the circulation desk.

Library Fines, dreaded library fines!  Here's how to avoid them at LHHS:

Library Books are due after 3 weeks. The due date is stamped on the inside cover. (Reference books are due the next day!)  Turn in your book on or before the due date!

Fines are 10¢ a day, with a maximum overdue fine of $5.00.

Damaged books will be assessed fines.  If you find damage in a book, return to speak with a staff member as soon as possible so that you won’t be held responsible.  You may be charged a replacement cost if you return a book in a condition which is unusable.

Patrons with fines over $1.00 cannot check out books until they pay their fines.

Renewing books: Patrons may renew a book as long as no other patron has placed a hold on that title.

Renewing books: Patrons may renew a book with only by bringing in the book.

Overdue notices are sent periodically to teachers to give to students, however, it is the student’s responsibility to return or renew books to avoid fines.

Rules for using

COMPUTERS IN THE LIBRARY

(if we all work together...all our computers will run smoothly)

PART 1: Responsible Computer Use

The library has 40 computers for student use.  Unless you have a pass or are off-roll, you may not be in the library during class time.

Students must have their ID card with NET sticker in order to use a computer.
IF YOU FIND SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT A COMPUTER, SPEAK WITH SOMEONE AT THE DESK OR YOU COULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE (e.g. different wallpaper, unknown icons...).

Computers are for school related use.  Follow these rules:

No e-mail without permission (you may e-mail documents home or retrieve them for printing).

    No games

No chat rooms, instant messenger, or posting to bulletin boards

No changing screen settings (wallpaper, screen saver, resolution, etc.) May result in loss of computer privileges

No downloading of software or music files, etc.

Printing:  the first 5 pages are free:  10¢ a page after the first five.

If you have trouble printing, please ask for help--DO NOT send your document again!

Violation of these or any rules on the LHHS Acceptable Technology Use Agreement (which all parents and students sign at registration) may result in loss of computer privileges!

PART 2:  Helpful Hints for Computers in the Library

Diskettes: Diskettes can be purchased for 50¢ at the front desk.
Save Often:  That's our motto.  Save every minute--save before printing--save after each paragraph...  Library computers are on all day and are used heavily--save your work often (to your network folder) to avoid the tragedy of lost work from a frozen computer!
