Dorkirk is a great scientist. He is the one who attached the metal arm to Folken. He made a machine to look into the future. He saw that in the future the 'dragon' will destroy Zaibach. The 'dragon' is Escaflowne in dragon mode. That is why he wanted Escaflowne to be captured. Later he found out that when Hitomi and Van were together he wasn't able to see the future with his machine. So he wanted to capture Hitomi, or to just keep the two couple away from each other. His machine was destroyed by Van at the end of the story. Dornkirk at last was killed by Folken who believed that fighting to get peace isn't that right.
