Chapter 3~ The Dream

Van sighed as he walked slowly back to the castle. Walking up onto a hill he looked below, his kingdom, five years, the used-to-be dead kingdom was now bursting with life. Merchants, workers, house wives, children, etc. could be seen bustling about on the streets. He was proud but it didn't feel right, it just didn't. He knew why, it was because 'she' wasn't here.
After five long years stories of 'the girl from the mystic moon' has become a legend. Gossips buzzed. 'The girl from the mystic moon' will always be the center of attention. Romours spread that 'the girl from the mystic moon' never exsisted. It was just a illusion, a angel or goddess that appeared from the sky to help Fanalia from it's fate, and that the young king fell inlove with her at first sight.
Another rumour was that 'the girl from the mystic moon' stole the heart of the young king. Then breaking his heart by leaving when she didn't have to. There were just so many stories that the actual 'real' story was forgotten, so the exaggeration just kept going on and on. But no matter how much the rumours changed, forever 'the girl from the mystic moon' who saved their kingdom will be their Queen in their hearts.
As Van walked through the corridor of the castle that led to Queen Mya's chamber he felt guilty. He decided not to be so cold to her as usual. He arrived at her door and knocked. A scurry of footsteps were heard and a servant girl...the queen's favorite came and answered the door. She bowed when she saw the king. "Your Majesty." the servant girl said nervously as she let way for the king to enter.
Van entered to he saw the Queen sleeping peacefully. His face softened a little, thats what he guessed because the servant girl seemed to give a look of relief. "Is she okay?" Van asked showing a 'little' just a 'little' concern. Ther servant girl smiled and nodded.
Dinner was served as usual at 6 o'clock promptly. The queen was not present. Everyone was silent grieving for the dead child, everyone was in black too. Van hated the dark and gloomy color but it was only proper for him to grieve for his dead child. Unlike some women who shed fake tears and made fake muffling sniffing noises Van showed not sign of sadness. He didn't show any emotion at all. He hated his life and hated everyone, everything by him now.
Merel came by that night while Van sat on a stone bench in the royal garden. "Van-sama.....I'm sorry." She sobbed. She was the only one who understood him like Allen did. She didn't cry for the dead baby but cried for the one girl that was suppose to be queen but isn't. "It's okay, haha, like usual isn't it? All we do is cry cry cry, while I guess she is up there with her family of her own already!" Van cleanched his fists and said these words through clenched teeth with an extremely cold tone that sent chills down Merel's spine. They sat in an awkward silence, the silence was defening. Finally after a long while Van stood up and walked away. Merel stared as she saw her almost brother that way. When he was out of sight she suddenly felt something float onto her hands that layed in her lap. There laying softly on her lands were three white feathers........
Van went back to him chamber and fell asleep. He dreamt that there was this woman....who looked like Hitomi..no it WAS Hitomi. She had wings though. She was clad in white....her long hair flowing behind her and she was laughing gaily, dancing about. There was also two children by her, both looked around the age of 4, the boy had bushy black hair and the girl had black beautiful hair that resembles his mother, the deseased Queen Varie. They also have wings too. They were flying and laughing about circling above the Fanalian hill. His and her eyes locked and he saw deep into her eyes, she was full of happiness.
He woke up with cold sweat. It wasn't a nightmare...but then it was just...well...too shocking. After all these years, why now? why today? why does he see her again? with wings? was that even Hitomi? who were those two little cute children?
Questions flashed through his mind as he ran all the way to the Temple where Escaflowne was kept. He jumped onto his comrade and settled down by the pink heart...suddenly something caught Van's attention....the pink was glowing...but it didn't have a energist it in! Van was absolutely puzzled. He sat on the gymeleft. Feeling comfortable and protected. He feel asleep and dreamt on...dreaming of his love...dreaming of the old days....dreaming that he was again holding her and flying over the clouds...laughing gaily. While he was dreaming three pure white feathers floated onto his lap.....the pink heart glowed again...then darkened to its usual color....
