Status~ He is the former King of Fanalia. Father of
Folken Fanel and Van Fanel and husband to Queen Varie.

Gaou Fanel is the former King of Fanalia before Van. He seemed to
have battled quite a few times in his times too (this statement was assumed since I
remember seeing him, Escaflowne, and an army. So I am not correct here). Gaou met Varie
(Van's mother) in the Fanalian forest (again I assumed this and I'm not saying I'm correct
here because it sure did look like the Fanalian forest he was in when talking to Vargas
and walked to a pond and saw Varie.) He fell instantly inlove even though many of his
officers kept on telling him not to that is because Varie is a Draconion and legend says
that Draconions are bad luck. He resolved the matter by marrying Queen Varie (and I guess
those officers had to shutup after that) and had two children. They both loved each other
dearly. Later when Van was 5 years old King Gaou died of some illness. Leaving the kingdom
in his sons' hands.
