| Ghost Hunting Ethics During my on-and-off times as a ghosthunter, I've come to follow a strict code of conduct out in the field. These rules that I have imposed upon myself act justly to both the living in the departed, and demonstrate professionalism as an investigator. These are the guidelines: General Guidelines: 1. Practice Good Behavior: acting abnoxious or a fool not only makes you look like an idiot, it also makes those your with look like idiots as well. 2. Keep Things to Yourself: fragrences mask the presences of spirit manifestations, while smoking messes up photgraphy (get the idea?) 3. Leave the Place Like You Entered It: a big rule that states that the area should show no signs of you even being there. 4. Be Prepared: Usually whenever I ghost hunting, I have a little of everything in my car, from flashlight batteries to a spare umbrella. 5. Patience is a Virtue: This goes hand-in-hand with long video shoots or EVP. Graveyard/Cemetary Conduct: 1. Never Disicrate a Grave! - Don't stand ontop of one - Don't sit on them - Don't use scetch paper on them - Stay Away From Them! 2. If doing a night visit at a public sight or private area, get permission from the family or caretaker. 3. Try not to take pictures of the names on the tombstones 4. Usually, the times for a graveyard to be open to the public are from sunrise to sunset, yet it highly adviseable to be sure you not inside when the open or close those gates. House Visits: 1. Always present yourself in a formal manner 2. Be courtious to the owners and respect their privacy 3. Do not touch anything in the house unless you have their permission 4. Be sure to have their permission to enter any area in the household Ruined/Condemned Structures Investigations 1. Wear proper safety gear. Helmets are a must for condemned houses! 2. Do not lean against anything 3. Walk in twos, or all together 4. Above all, watch where you step! |
