Intro: If you were to look on a map and travel the small city known as "Logtown", you would quickly discover that the town is not there. In fact, it has been gone for over 30 years according to state records. Read on why I felt that this area should be looked into for an investigation. History: The city was once a part of a huge logging community, and operated two large free-flowing waterwell powered sawmills along the Pearl River. The city's success as a great southern timber-town raised the population above it's neighboring towns at one time in the early 1900s. However, it eventially met its fate. In the early 1960s, NASA was searching for a large flat piece of land to test rocket-engines for the Space Race. Turns out that the area around the southern part of the Pearl River was a prime location as a test bed. However, in order to prevent thousands of lawsuits from the window-shattering rocket testing facilities, NASA had to buy out all towns in a certain radius from the testing zone. This testing zone is known today as the "Buffer Zone". Logtown, along with it's neighboring towns were bought-out, and relocated. Many of which relocated to Pearlington, Slidell, Pearl River (a city), and Waveland; which all border the buffer zone. Yet there were some who sought to stay at their homes until the bulldozers arived at their doorsteps (literally). A rather sad ending for a once prosperous town. Today, some of the towns remnants can still be viewed, such as the four secluded cemeteries and the bare ruins of a sawmill that burned down in the late 1800s, which resides along the "Pearl". I will go back when the weather lightens up because there were two cemeties which are flooded out from the constant rain we've got going currently. In addition, I would like to arrange an exploration crew as well. Much of the land is way overgrown with tall pines, but many of the concrete structures remain. Since I'm a history buff, I find this exciting, considering that some of the ruins may be intact. My references were obtained from the Pearlington Public Library/Elementry School. Reason for Investigation: The area holds four cemeteries (two of the four cemeteries have no names), ruins of a sawmill and farmland. In addition, there might also be homes hidden amongst the woods in which NASA never touched.
