These are 1967 Firebirds, the first year they were produced. Both are convertibles with Pontiac 400 cubic inch engines, making them among the rarest and most desirable of the Firebird family. 2 weeks before these photos were taken, the front clip of mine was in the driveway, the engine was on a stand, and the pistons were on a workbench. Jonathan and I installed new chrome-moly rings on the TRW forged 10:1 pistons, new main and rod bearings, Competition Cams roller rocker arms and hardened pushrods, and added an Edelbrock Performer RPM camshaft, intake, and 750 CFM carburetor. After re-installing the engine and transmission (race-prepped TH-350 with shift kit), we painted the car with GM Torch Red Acrylic Enamel, and spent the next few days wet-sanding and buffing until our arms were like spaghetti. After a few test runs on the new engine, we changed the oil and her maiden voyage was a 120 mile trip to Pigeon Forge with Jason. All the hard work was well worth it, and of all the cars at the run, these were the only two '67 400 ragtops we could find. |
