The New Orleans Colonels who are now coming off their best season with a Wild Card birth.
The current New Orleans Colonels feature only 4 hitters from their 2004 team yet have stayed the same in strategy and been one of the Southern Leagues leaders in 3B and SB every year. They had an amazing offseason with players like Matt Hodge, Pedro Acevedo, Li Xuri, Michael Kania, Gao Haibin joining the organization. A fact you may not know about New Orleans is that reigning SL HR Champ Alberto Ambriz had one of the worst 37 HR 130 RBI season of all time. He absolutely killed the Colonels with a .288 OBP. Not only could he not get on base he struck out 111 times which was his career best. Since it is generally agreed that successful basestealers are 75% successful of the time you could say Ambriz was downright awful. He stole 5 bases in 18 attempts and took away many chances to help his team score. In June, he had more Strikouts than RBI's and hit a dreadful .155. Even worse for New Orleans is that less-famed Outfielder counterparts Andy Jacobs and Arturu Hirames had better OPS's than him. While Ambriz is severely overrated, New Orleans is not and has a great future which was further helped by a nice offseason.
