Chronicle of our Karate

 

In the year 1998 nearly 20 years ago we founded our Karate Association in Sapugaskanda area Sri Lanka. Under guidance of Mr. K. M. R. Welivitage the Karate coacher of the National Youth Council. We Started this Karate association with the handful of the members and it's main idea is to give best Karate players to the Sri Lanka Karate field.

In 1992 the JICA foundation has conducted the Karate in Sri Lanka. This is the first event we participated and other our members got number of places in the Karate Sport Arena. After that only be opened our path of Karate world and entered Junior / Senior Karate tournament in Sri Lanka.

In the year 1996 our association introduced one of the our Karate player (Sri Lanka National Player - Mr. Deshadhi Cooray - Present chief of Karate do Ichiyukai) to the 13th World Karate Championship in South Africa. Since the Association gained more than 200 victories in the Sports Karate field.

Some of our Victories are as follows

1996 - World Karate Championship (South Africa) - Participation

1997 - Asian Karate Championship (Macao) - Participation

1998 - Open Karate Championship (India) - won Medals

1998 - National Colour Award (National Karate Federation) - Mr. Deshadhi Cooray

2000 - South Asian Karate Championship (India) - won Medals

2005 - Invitational School Karate Championship (India) - won Medals

2007 - Invitational School Karate Championship (India) - won Medals

2007 - First Asian Karate Open Championship (India) - won Medals

2007 - The Best School Karate Player Colour Award (Ministry of Education W. P.)

In between this association attained some more District / Provincial / National / School / Festival, Karate tournaments victors within this period. So we can say our association is one of the best Karate Association in Sri Lanka. We proudly say that the main reasons to achieve these victories are the adoption of the new techniques, Sport Medicine, Theory of Training, Sports Psychology and correct method and, First aid for the Karate practice.

We have our efficient and educated trained personals in and Special Sport coaching course Leipzig University of Germany, Sport Diploma (NISS), Karate Coachers Specially trained in Japan.
