Note 1 - Announcement

1)      Decided to restart news section of sl2003football website in upcoming year 2006

2)      However still faced difficulties of manpower thus hoping for understanding if not updated for other part of website need updating more urgently.

3)      Also updating of news on local football is based on interest and not full-time job so expect nothing much

4)      It is also on a test run with news section to be shut down if workload proved too much.

Note 2 – Brief News on previous 11 months not updated

1)      2004 S-league Double Champions Tampines Rovers was crowned ASEAN Champions after winning the ASEAN Club Championship defeating Malaysian Super League Champions Pahang 4-2 in the Final in Brunei.

2)      Singapore U23 finished runner-up in the ASEAN U23 Championship losing 0-3 to Thailand U23 in the final in Thailand

3)      Singapore 2 representatives in AFC Cup was knocked out in the quarter-final with Tampines Rovers losing 0-2 over 2 legs to Jordan League Champions Al Faysali while Home United was trounced 2-6 over 2 legs by Lebanon League Champions Al Faysali.

4)      Tampines Rovers were also crowned S-league 2005 champions as they successful defended the title

5)      Home United won Singapore Cup 2005 defeating Woodlands Wellington 3-2 in the Final watched by 13000.

6)      Singapore U23 failed to advance from SEA Games XXIII after being drawn in Group of Death with Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos and Myanmar. Singapore finished third in the group with 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat.

7)      11 teams for S-league 2006 with 9 local clubs - Balestier Khalsa, Geylang United, Gombak United, Home United, SAFFC, Sengkang Punggol, Tampines Rovers, Woodlands Wellington, Young Lions -  and 2 Foreign Clubs - Albirex Niigata (S), Sporting Afrique. Sinchi had pulled out of the S-league after 3-years while Paya Lebar Punggol merged with Sengkang Marine to become Sengkang Punggol. Gombak United return to S-league after 3-years absence
