Our love of ferrets all started on Christmas eve 1993 with the addition of "Bonnie and Clyde". Little did we know these eight week old pet store babies would change our lives forever. |

More and more, these little furry guys became so much a big part of our lives. We took them everywhere with us. We bought them toys and expanded their cage. Finally they had the run of the house. We couldn't wait to get home from work, let them out, play with them and laugh at their antics. We worried about them like our own children. Well, of course, they were our children. Oh how spoiled they were. "Bonnie and Clyde", partners in crime. Anything missing, look under the couch. We were amazed how smart and persistant they were. Bonnie was into everything, the "Daughter of the Devil" we called her. Clyde turned into a couch potatoe. If Bonnie would "rob the bank", Clyde would be "asleep behind the wheel of the get away car". We were hooked. Ferret fumes had gotten to us. |

Ferret math struck in June, 1995, when Tika came out of her cage at the pet store giving kisses. She was a beautiful silver mitt. It was definitely an "impulse buy". This of course, presented us with our first experience in introducing a 3 month old sprite female to a older female (Bonnie). Let the fights begin. Bonnie was our alpha female and Tika was quickly put in her place. Tika (Tikie Toe's) loved the boys and shared her hammey with Cosmo for many years. |

Ferret Math struck again on Christmas Eve, 1998. Must stay out of pet stores. A trip found a beautiful black female, but when we went back to get her, she was gone. Only 1 little, soleful eyed chocolate boy left. Gee, couldn't leave him by himself on Christmas Eve. Cosmo joined our family. Cosmo is one of those ferrets that loves all other ferrets and they all love him. He is not a cuddly guy, but is just a happy go lucky guy who we could picture playing in the Milky Way. He could be seen bouncing from star to star and galaxy to galaxy. |

This is Winston. He was found in June, 1999 in Urbana, Ohio by a McDonald's dumpster eating, what else, french fries. This distinguished boy was named Winston. He was a whole hob, weighing in at almost six pounds. He was a gentle, loving guy who learned what it is was like to be a ferret, run around a room, play with other ferrets, do the "weazel war dance" and dook constantly. Our exotics vet, determined his age to be between 9-11 years old. Winston was a special guy. See "Winston's Story" |

Ferret experiences now took another direction. "Lets go to a Ferret Show". Our first show adventure was a trip to Indiana in 1997. Like anyone attending a show for the first time and seeing our first "breeder" ferrets, we didn't realize they were so much larger then the pet store guys. We attended many shows as walk-in, before becoming exhibitors. Our first exhibitor experience was at the 1999 Ferret Extravaganza in Columbus, Ohio. We showed Clyde, Cosmo and Winston, the rescue we had adopted. We now found out what "showing" was all about. We were bitten by the show bug. We continued to attend the shows, including Chicago, Michigan, Pennysvania. etc. It was at a Great Lakes Show in Michigan, that our love for the Point was born. It was a case of love at first sight for the Sable Fine Point. It was our first introduction to Gisborne Zen from Scarletts' Happy Dookers. If we couldn't have him, we wanted a kit. That's our Poko. He came to us as a result of a successful breeding of SHD's Gisborne Zen and RR's Kiowa Kiwi of the Hobbitry. With the acquisition of Poko, and our association with and help of the Columbus breeders (HOFA), our interest in breeding was born. Bonnie, our original, black sable, pet store girl led us into the Black Sable color pattern. Our girl, SHD's Black Patchwork of Stafford. joined our family. This led us to where we are today. We have relocated from Ohio to South Carolina, but still continue to attend shows in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. |
