| What You Can (and Definitely Should) Do! | ||||||||||||||||||
| Guys, it's actually pretty easy to get yourself (and your issues...political issues, that is), noticed. Here are some ideas for you and your friends to use if you're interested in making some noise. Or dressing up as a chicken. Or forcing your dog to become politically active. Whatever the case may be....... | ||||||||||||||||||
| Protest it up! Get a bunch of people, make signs, and go march....just check out the legal stuff first to make sure you can. E-mail your Congressperson - in fact, have LOTS of people send LOTS of e-mails to Congress. Register everyone you know to vote! And we mean EVERYONE. Friends, neighbors, aunts, uncles... Dress your dog's collar up with political buttons, take it out for a walk, and start conversations with other dog-friendly people about the button. Have issue-themed house parties. You know, if you're really into the environment, have all green food, but ugly "Chemical" dips. That sort of thing. Wear a sandwich board with your favorite message on it and hang out at a street corner for a day (with flyers, if you so desire). Get in costume and stand in a public place with your friends. Skunks, chickens, Santa Clause, frogs, anything can work. And you just might land yourself on TV in front of some befuddled news anchor. Then you get to explain what you're going at in front of a whole bunch of people sitting at home. Neat, eh? Write out your message in sidewalk chalk in a public place. Write it a bunch of times so that pedestrians will see it over and over again...and just maybe, they'll get the message. But, if people get angry and ask you to clean it up, do it nicely and apologize. Put up posters all around your town with your message on it. Bombard magazines and newspapers with letters to the editor about your issues. After 10,000 letters, they will probably take notice. Call in to talk radio about your favorite issues....it's anonymous, so have fun with it, too, if you want people to really notice. Jokes work so well in getting people to understand where you're coming from. And finally, keep yourself informed about all of issues that are important to you, so that you've got lots more ammo when people start to give you trouble or disagree. |
