The band recently recorded The Book of Heavy Metal at Sweden’s Studio Fredman (Dark Tranquillity & Arch Enemy):

Formed in 1999 by Fredrik Nordström and Gus G. Snowy originally turned down the offer, but agreed to do some studio drumming sessions. Hammerfall backing vocalist Niklas Isfeldt auditioned and was quickly offered the spot behind the microphone. Niklas' friend, bassist Peter Stålfors came along and Fredrik and Gus decided that Niklas' voice and Peter's bass playing easily rounded out their ideal 80s style power & thrash metal quintet.

2002's Dragon Slayer became an instant hit with the metal magazines. Not only did Dragon Slayer hit Number 1 on the Japanese imports, but Dream Evil captured the attention of Germany's BLIND GUARDIAN!! Soon Dream Evil found themselves opening for the German-based power-metal gods on Blind Guardian's tour dates in Sweden. While touring in Japan later in 2002, Dream Evil was approached to open for HammerFall during their European tour beginning in early 2003.

Tour support HammerFall and Masterplan, it was suggested that Dream Evil reveal a new album. Within a few short weeks, Dream Evil released Evilized on January 20th, 2003. 2003 not only saw Dream Evil supporting HammerFall on their European tour, but in June, Dream Evil found themselves back in Japan playing to sold out venues.

By February 2004, Dream Evil was ready to hand in their third album to be mastered: The Book of Heavy Metal. A few months later, on May 31st, 2004 the world was introduced to The Book of Heavy Metal. A video of the title track was directed by Patric Ulléus (Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Lacuna Coil, etc.). Guest appearances on their third release include:
