Division hit the DC-Metro scene in 1993 as Visionary. With killer shows and a growing fan base, Division hit the studio in 1995 to record Paradise Lost. The local scene ate-up Paradise Lost at a voracious pace, requiring additional pressings. The band started to develop a reputation for their classic-metal influenced progressive/power metal sound and stage presence. In little time, fans began to be treated to Division shows at Powermad Festivals. Division was also honored with the opportunity to open for legendary rock/metal gods: Dio, Bruce Dickinson, Fates Warning, HellOweeN, Jag Panzer, King Diamond, Metal Church and Savatage. The "newer" demi-gods of metal have also asked Division to warm up their crowds: Black Label Society, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, In Flames, Nevermore and Seven Witches. These metallic deities are not the only children of the grave who approved of Division and asked them to grace their stage, but the metal press has also seen the Visionary presence of Division: Metal Maniacs, Snakepit, Metal Hammer and Feast or Famine. Although there has been much fan-fare for Division, their time has not been without challenge. Line-up changes and production issues with 2004's Trinity were just two of the substantial obsticles in Division's growth and progression. But, with every apparent set-back, there is always a step forward. During this time, Division appeared on several tribute albums:
Division was already well on their way to being a good band, but with the 2004 release of Trinity (MetalAges Records), Division saw themselves become a cohesive band that was intense, ferocious, energetic, aggresive while still retaining their roots in the classic-melodic-progressive power metal that has driven them for over a decade. Germany's underground magazine Heavy, Oder Was?! featured Division in both print and on their Metal Crusade VII sampler. 2004 has seen Division successfully supporting Trinity at Powerfest II, Classic Metal Fest IV, opening for Lacuna Coil and Metal Church. Metal Children, have no fear, for Division will continue to Up the Irons and Keep the Faith! My favorite Division moment was when I saw Rob (bassist) for the first time when Division opened for Lacuna Coil at Jaxx: "Ron has energy to spare. He needs it, his bass is three times as big as he is - I looked up and there's this bass guitar walking around with a dude strapped to it - then the hair went flying and the ground shook." - my comment to Division guitarist, Mike Blevins.
