SPECIAL THANKS TO MR. BILL SONES AND RICH SONES, PH.D. AT STRANGE BUT TRUE QUESTIONS! YOU CAN CHECK OUT ALL OF WHAT THEY HAVE A RICHMOND.COM
(NEW!) HERE IS THE QUESTION I GOT FROM STRANGE BUT TRUE! (NEW!)

OH, NEAT! YOU'RE OUTDOORS ON A LOOKOUT PLATFORM AT SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK WHEN YOUR LONG HAIR STARTS FRIZZING OUT LIKE A HALO, STANDING STRAIGHT UP ON TOP. YOUR BROTHER AIMS HIS CAMERA: "SMILE!" SHOULD YOU?

FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE ABOVE WOMAN HAD HER PHOTO SNAPPED AND LEFT THE PLATFORM, A LIGHTNING STRIKE TO THE PLATFORM KILLED ONE PERSON AND INJURED SEVEN, RECOUNTS DAVID HALLIDAY ET AL. IN "FUNDAMENTALS OF PHYSICES." THE OVERHEAD CLOUD SYSTEM (WITH MUCH VISIBLE BLUE SKY) HAD CREATED A STRONG ELECTRIC FIELD NEAR THE WOMAN'S HEAD, AND MANY OF HER HAIR STRANDS HAD EXTENDED UPWARD ALONG THE FIELD. FROM HER SMILING, SHE WAS CLEARLY UNAWARE OF THE DANGER, BUT IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU, "YOU HAD BETTER RUN FOR SHELTER -- NOT POSE FOR A SNAPSHOT."
What is the Saffir-Simpson hurricane damage potential scale?
Good Question: Here is what the scale looks like:
CATEGORY:
1 Minimal

2. Moderate

3. Extensive

4. Extreme

5. Catastrophic
Winds: (MPH)
74-95

96-110

111-130

131-155

More than 155
Storm Surge: (in feet)
4-5

6-8

9-12

13-18

More than 18
What are the basic cloud names?
Cirrus, Cirrostratus, Cirrocumulus, Altostratus, Altocumulus, Stratus, Numbostratus, Cumulus, Stratocumulus, Cumulonimbus.
Can opening your windows save your house?
NO! Opening your windows do not save your house. It just wastes time when you could be taking shelter. Tornado winds, NOT unequal pressure, destroy buildings.
Can the humidity ever be higher than 100%?
Yes and No! You will NEVER hear it reported as higher than 100% on the weather, BUT inside clouds. Yes, in clouds the humidity can be higher than 100%. Air can become very slightly supersaturated, with values higher than 101%. Note: That if it wasn't for this, it would be VERY difficult for rain and/or snow particles to form!!!
If it rains or snows outside, does that mean the relative humidity is 100%?
Not necessarily. The relative humidity is certainly 100% within the clouds where the precipitation forms, but the air can be much drier in the layers near the surface of the Earth.
