Upon further research, (I am still doing more research), I have found that this John may be related to the German Straight, Stright, Streit, Streight, etc. in my family.
It is Surmised that William (m. Barbara Hoop) is NOT a son of this John Strait, but actually his brother. And that their parents might be Johann Jacob Stright b. Oct 15 1704 and Antje ??
Johann Jacob being the son of Johann Christian and Elizabetha Catherina Saufhaub (Saufhauss)
I am also double checking on John and ? Strait's children as they are listed the same for the John Strait who married Bridgett Shaw which of course is impossible. Any help with documentation would be appreciated.
