Stephen Stright died intestate in Crawford County, PA in 1816. The Register's Docket in the Crawford County, PA Register and Recorder's office shows letters of administration were granted to his brother William E. Stright and Isaac Dilley on November 9, 1816; an inventory of his estate valued at $155.70 was filed on December 28, 1816; an account of sale was filed on April 18, 1817; and an administrators' account filed on January 25, 1818. The physical documents are no longer in the files, but the docket listing them still exists. Also on file in Crawford County, PA in Orphan's Court is the record of his adminstrators' petition to sell his land to settle the debts of the estate. It is dated February 28, 1818. In it, the administrator states that Stephen Stright "late of said [Crawford] County"... "died intestate leaving a widow and three children, Stephen, John, and Christian." The petition also states that he died possessed of 200 acres of land "in Shenango Township" which was sold for $120 on May 26, 1818.

His son Stephen Stright was born in 1805 which is documented by his petition presented to the November 1819 Term Court of Common Pleas in Mercer County, PA which states that he is "above the age of fourteen" and requests to choose his  guardian. This petition also gives his father's name as "Stephen Straight" and states he died intestate. Also in the Mercer County, PA Register and Recorder's office is the petition of George Y. Stright dated May 15, 1820 stating that "your petitioner's brother Stephen Streight lately died leaving two minor children, namely, John E. and Christian Streight and under fourteen years of
age.." and asking the Court to appoint them a guardian until they arrive at the age of 14. On May 22, 1822 the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas is petitioned by "John Ensly Stright a minor above the age of fourteen years SON OF STEPHEN STRIGHT LATE OF CRAWFORD COUNTY DECD. humbly showeth that he hath no guardian..." and requests that he be allowed to choose his guardian. [Capitals are mine for emphasis.]

In the Mercer County, PA Register and Recorder's office are the estate records of "Unice Strite" [Eunice (Holloway) Stright]: letters of administration granted to Isaac Holloway dated April 17, 1820; inventory of her personal property valued at $84.37 dated April 18, 1820; account of the sale of her personal property dated April 22, 1820, and the account of "Isaac Holloway
Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of Eunice Streight Late of Sandy Creek Township Deceased" filed February Term 1822. In the administrator's account is the statement "...[Item] 4 Dr [debit] to supporting Christian Streight six weeks in the Spring of 1820 - $2.25[Item] 5 for the keeping and clothing the Same in Fall & Winter of 1819 -
$5.00..." This is proof that Eunice Holloway Stright was the wife of Stephen Stright who died in 1816 in Crawford County, PA and the mother of Stephen Stright who married Isabella Palmer, John Ensley Stright and Christian Stright.

Also in Crawford County, PA August Term 1815 Orphan's Court records is the petition for the sale of the lands of Lawrence "Streight late of Shenango Township" by his administrators Margaret "Streight" and George Y. "Streight." The petition further states that he died leaving "lawful issue eleven children, to wit, Catharine, John L., Stephen, Joseph, Anna (the wife of Amasa Extel) George, William, Amasa, Royal, Sally and Lawrence, the three last named are yet in their minority, also the children of Christian (who died before his Father), to wit, Joseph, Sabina, Young & Diadema." The petition further states that he  died possesed of "one tract of land in Shenango Township in said county, containing 200 acres being an undivided part of a tract of 400 acres originally settled by STEPHEN STREIGHT & the said intestate..." and of one other tract of 150 acres "being an undivided part of a tract of 400 acres of land originally settled by John L. Streight..." On November 29, 1815, Stephen Stright bought the land from his father's estate that he and his father had settled together for $350 - the same land that brought only $120 when it was sold in May 1818 to settle his own estate! The other tract of 150 acres was sold to John L. Stright for $40. Lawrence Stright died prior to May 7, 1813 when letters of administration on his estate were granted to his widow Margaret Streight and son George Y. Streight.

Also on file in Mercer County Register and Recorder's office are the estates of George Y. Stright, William E. Stright, Joseph Stright, John L. Stright and Isaac Holloway. I have copies of these also if anyone is interested.
