Special Weaknesses: her people skills need work... She is polite, but often doesn't understand things like sarcasm or ambiguity, which makes her seem dumb.

Quirks: Sometimes she just disappears for days without bothering to tell anyone about it. And don't even try to ask her afterwards! And, (s.a.) it can be very annoying for her comrades that she takes everything so literally... And her attempts to master the attack spells of Wood magic... Duck and cover.

Dreams and/or Goals: She wants to know who she is, who her parents were, if and why they abandoned her...

Signature Phrase: "I didn't do this on purpose!"

Personality:

She doesn't trust easily, but can be a very loyal friend. She is very secretive when it comes to her past, but finds no end when talking about magic. Her sense of humour is... well, different. She's rather calm and doesn't get mad often, but beware if she does. Has a fierce sense of right or wrong, but unlike Amelia doesn't make hasty jugdements.

Background Information:

Mor'Dia grew up in a little village in Szaram. (Szaram is a thinly populated area, and the people who live there are woodcutters or hunters.) She was apparently abandoned by her real parents as a baby, and her foster-father, Cain, found her in a simple wooden basket on a clearing in the woods surrounding his village. Attached to the basket was the necklace Mor'Dia still wears all the time. Engraved in it was her name. (At least they thought it was her name. Could turn out to be "Made in China"...) Cain and his wife, Ann, raised her lovingly and treated her like they would've their own child, but as soon as she was old enough to go out and play with the other children, they couldn't protect her any longer from the gossip, the mistrust and hate her appearance evoked.

After all, it was a tiny village, far away from the big cities where people of other races are a common sight... It didn't help things when she discovered her magic at the age of ten and destroyed several buildings in the process. Unwanted by the village people, unable to win the friendship of other children she started to spend more and more of her time alone in the woods, where she practiced working with her magic. Most of the spells she knows she has discovered instinctively.

When she was twelve, a wandering sorcerer came to the village to seek shelter from the upcoming winter. He saw Mor'Dia's potential for dreamcatching and taught her the basics. This didn't help her reputation in the village either. She ran away from home at the age of 13, hoping to find her parents or at least others of her race. Since then she's been wandering from city to city.

Ah, one more thing: She got the brand on her left shoulder in the city Karleen. She was hired to help a young man who suffered from terrible nightmares. She entered his dreams and before she was able to do anything, he had a heart attack and died. Mor'Dia was, of course, blamed for this and branded as a charlatan.

Additional Information / Writing Sample:

Wood magic: I think it works like this: the forest is a living entity and posseses magic of its own. Users of wood magic join in the collective mind of the trees and work magic with the help of the forest. Mor'Dia formulates spells because it helps her concentrate, but that is not really necessary.
