"The Saillune Family" Someone had a question about Phil's title and what it means. Here is my answer: Have you ever noticed how Phil is also referred to as "Crown Prince?" Technically that is his real title, not just "Prince." The title of crown prince basically means that the king disappeared before he could crown Phil king. Whether Phil's father was killed, died naturally, or ran away is a mystery. Same thing goes for the queen. I wouldn't be surprised if both of them were assasinated- the crown princess (Phil's wife) was. When the time comes for Ameria to be crowned, she will be made full queen. But ONLY if Phil is still around. If not, she will become crown princess. The throne order in the family is as follows (based on information and characters featured in the anime): Before Gracia left After Gracia left
and after the deaths of Phil's wife, Randy, and Alfred Basically, if something happens to Phil, then Ameria becomes crown princess. If then something happens to Ameria, Christopher becomes crown prince. It is unknown if Christopher's wife is living, or if Randy had a wife or any children. Technically, Gracia/Naga should be second in line after Phil, but it doesn't look like she's going to be heading home anytime soon. There is some confusion surrounding the order of inheritance. In NEXT, when Phil was "dead," one might think that Christopher would be crown prince. This is disproved, however, when Lina tells Ameria that she's crown princess and that whoever killed Phil would be after her next. The reason Christopher gave up his right to the throne was so he would be cleared of being a possible suspect in Phil's assassination. Also, he probably didn't want people who suspected him as Phil's murderer to worry that he would go after Ameria next. What really doesn't make sense to me is why Randy thought he had any chance of becoming king. I don't know if he thought he only had to get rid of Phil, or if he was planning on taking out the other three (Ameria, Christopher, and Alfred) also. I'm actually quite confused myself over the matter of throne inheritance. If someone has a definite answer of the order and can back up their claim, please tell me so I can correct my information if needed. - Another question: "Since Phil isn't king, then is he the ruler?" My answer: Phil is the ruler, he just doesn't have the title of king. - "and good thing that they are, imagine a county or city being ran by a maniac who is completely obsessed with white magic?" Would you rather have a county or city run by a maniac who is completely obsessed with black magic? There are reasons why Saillune is the of the largest kingdom in the northeastern Slayers world. It has a popular ruler and it is devoted to maintaing peace. People want to live in Saillune because they know it's safe. A kingdom like this would have many more friends and allies than one, for example, that goes around trying to take over the world. Zoana is an example of this. It was destroyed because of its intentions to take over Saillune. - "Hmm okay, so Naga was Gracia. Interresting, I wounder why she left..." Living in Saillune, she obviously would have training in white magic. After her mother was killed, she wanted to learn offensive spells and thus went out into the world to gain experience. I believe the same is true for Ameria and why she doesn't only practice white magic. Also, neither of them use non-magical weapons. Naga carries a sword, but she never uses it. In TRY, Ameria is forced to use one of the Dark Star weapons, and says, "I'm not really good with weapons..." This is most likely because of the method used to kill their mother- a sword. Part of Naga's gaining experience includes experimenting. The creativity and drive to create original spells runs in the Saillune family- Gracia/Naga killed her mother's assasin with a spell, Chaos String, which was created by her mother; Naga creates her own golem spells (which don't always work the way they're supposed to); Ameria created the Visfarank spell, which transfers magical energy into the fists of the spellcaster. |
