Suiryuu-ou no Kishi
Knight of Aqualord
FAQ

What is Knight of Aqualord?
Suiryuu-ou no Kishi, or Knight of Aqualord is the newest Slayers storyline. It is a manga by Tommy Ohtsuka that is published monthly in Comic Dragon AGE. It began publication in April 2002, and publication ended in 2005 with six volumes.

Where on the Slayers timeline does it take place?
It takes place on a parallel timeline to both TRY and the Dynast arc of the novels. In other words, if one is reading Knight of Aqualord, then one must assume that Lina-tachi never fought Dark Star or Dynast Grausherra. More simply, it takes place after Lina defeats Hellmaster Fibrizo.

Who are the protagonists?
As of the fifth tankoubon, Lina's group is made up of the following: Lina Inverse, Gourry Gabriev, Ameria Wil Tesla Saillune, Lyos, and Shizuri.

Where is Zelgadiss?! What about Xelloss?!
They haven't shown up yet. To be honest, I don't think that they will, because Lina's group is getting crowded.

Who are the antagonists?
It appears that Deep Sea Dolphin will be the series' main villan, although she hasn't made an appearance yet. Two of her subordinates, Riksfalto (her general) and Huraker (possibly her priest) have been causing trouble for Lyos. There is also a woman, Soy Len Haiz, who is connected somehow to Lyos' past and harasses him on occasion via dreams and visions.

Who is the Knight of Aqualord?
It's Lyos. He possesses the power of the deceased Aqualord Ragradia, and has a powerful sword named Banisher. It appears that Deep Sea Dolphin and her lackeys are after him.

Where does this story take place?
At the beginning of the manga, Lina wakes up ouside the mazoku barrier. Later, we find out that the barrier was broken (after Fibrizo's defeat), because Ameria and a Saillune envoy show up in Lina's location. Because there are followers of both Aqualord and Windlord Valwin in the area, it has to take place in one of the northwestern continents (see map below).

Like in TRY, when Lina's group traveled to the land south of the former mazoku barrier, the magic ability of the people in this new area is much less than that of Lina and Ameria. Also, like in TRY, the area is populated by new species of animals that do not exist in Lina's home. Most notable are ostrich-like birds than can be ridden (these were also in TRY).

Are there any notable changes to Lina, Gourry, or Ameria?
Lina gains the power of Airlord Valwin. There are several scenes supporting Lina and Gourry as a couple.

When and how will it end?
The sixth volume is the last.

Where can I buy it?
Currently no English-language company has licensed it for distribution in North America (or Europe/Austrailia). There is no English translation. To buy the Japanese version, try Japanese bookstores. I bought mine at the Kinokuniya store in Seattle, and there is also one in New York City. If you are unable to travel to one of those places, or there is no other Japanese bookstore in your area, try the website of Sasuga Books. I would say Kinokuniya's website, but it's in Japanese. One could also follow it monthly in Comic Dragon AGE, if you are able to find it (the Kinokuniya in Seattle doesn't carry it).
