Cordelia Chase was introduced in the very first episode of Buffy being nice to her because Buffy could have fitted in with her and her gang, mainly because she came from L.A and was beautiful enough. It wasn't long at all though before Cordelia realised that Buffy wasn't prepared to be mean to the less popular and so started picking on Buffy.

Though-out the show she was always a minor character, always complaning about research and how un-popular being with Buffy and Willow was...

As the first 3 seasons went on it was established that she was a good person at heart, mainly after she went out with Xander and her Parents went broke, but could still say cruel comments. She Helped with the research and even slayed a vampire at one time. After she caught Xander and Willow kissing in season 3 she broke-up with him and then moved to L.A where she met up with Angel.
