Buffy was told of her destiny while living in L.A. with her mother and father. Buffy's first watcher, Merrick, trained and prepared her for the battles to come, but was killed during a battle against evil. After Buffy's parents got divorced, and after she was kicked out of her school, Hemery, for burning down the school gym in the fight against evil, Buffy and her mother, Joyce Summers, moved to Sunnydale where she became friends with Xander Harris and Willow Rosenburg, who has developed into a very powerful wicca. Now, Willow and Buffy both attend the Sunnydale University, and Xander has a job as a construction worker.
Recently, in an attempt to hide 'The Key' (mystical energy that opens the gateways between dimensions) from a hell-goddess, The Key was given human form by a group of monks, who have re-written the history of Buffy's and all of her friends lives. The Key was hidden in human form as Buffy's younger sister Dawn Summers, and the monks gave everyone memories of Dawn so nobody would suspect anything was different.
Now, Buffy's mum has died from a brain tumor, and Buffy must act as a guardian to Dawn. With the help of her friends, Buffy continues to battle the forces of darkness, as well as lead her normal life as a regular young woman...
