Prologue: Kai Kai was an extremely powerful mage, one of the best there ever was. Her ability to control the elements made her a match for any other magick-users in the world. Too bad she wasnt on her world.
Instead of being on Inlin, she was on board the space vessel Katan. Her current mission was to put down an uprising in the planet Flingeis. The natives were restless and resented the oppressive dictatorship that was forced upon them. It was Kais job to end everything peacefully.
The entire revolt started over an artifact known as the Gods Finger. Supposedly their chief god prophesied that when their world was in need, he would send them aid in the form that they would least expect it in. Thus, when an old man found a crystal finger on the side of the road, he proclaimed that it was the gods affirmation that they would win if they revolted.
The end result of all this was that Kai was once again thrown back onto her cruiser and go put down the revolution. The only good thing was that this time she had an entire army behind her. No one knew why she had been picked for this job, not even her superiors. She had been selected by the oracles, nine old men who seemed to know everything and had some weird ability to see into the future.
Although the only thing could they see: If Kai were sent, the universe would not be destroyed. So, Kai went. She was allowed no luxury at all, and was forced to train her almost godlike powers everyday. It really sucked because there was nobody to train with.
So now, on her way to Flingeis, Kai was sitting on the deck watching the stars go by. They had just left the repair bay of the spaceport #0478. They had gotten into a minor skirmish with some Hilian raiders. The Hilians did not make it out of the fight with their battle cruiser in one piece. Kai had just spent a couple of weeks in a magick-free zone, and was just itching to use it again.
Instead of training, however, she was just sitting, watching the scenery go by. Her thoughts drifted from happy thoughts of home to troubled thoughts of the war she would have to fight.
Laura. Kai called for the ships automated computer. Laura, are you there.
Yes Kai, I am here. Lauras metallic voice echoed in the large room. What do you want?
I will be returning to the bridge. Please inform them of that.
Right away.
The mechanical voice quit, and the room was bathed in silence. Kai got up, and walked towards the hallway that led to the bridge. The blue robe she was wearing she let slip to reveal her pilots outfit. It consisted of a black cat suit and a pair of baggy khakis. Everyone thought that the uniform was not within the standards, but since she was an exceptionally powerful mage, they decided to let it slide.
Kai walked out onto the bridge of her ship, and all of her crew, except the navigators, stood up and saluted her. She motioned for them all to sit down, and they went back to their jobs. She took her seat in the back of the room and stared out the view port. Only one more month to go before landing in Flingeis if everything went right.
