Chapter 7: Another of the Chosen

Gorn woke up in a room of pure white. Thoughts flew through his head with no apparent order. One moment he was thinking of the old job ads for bouncers and then he was reminiscing the old days. Parts of his life he remembered, others he distorted. But with all of the action inside of his head, he still managed to notice the woman standing over him.
The woman smiled and turned away to retrieve something from some sort of cabinet on the wall. As Gorns senses cleared he noticed that the walls of the room were not white, but were instead more a beige. A latticework of lines covered the walls and the ceiling as well. The maroon color of them clashed perfectly with the subtleness of the beige. He tried to move and found that he could actually stand up.
When he stood up his knees buckled and almost didnt support him. He put a hand on the footrest of the bed and slowly stumbled over to the woman. He noticed that she had an almost ageless appearance to her, with eyes that held such wisdom that only the elderly had obtained yet a face that only a young woman could achieve. Time seemed almost to slow down and he tried to collect his meandering thoughts so he could speak.
Instead of waiting for him to talk, the woman introduced herself, I am Wodra. You are my creature now. I have chosen you for the fight against the Flaw.
Gorn was puzzled so he asked, The Flaw?
The flaw in creation. Unless it is either completely destroyed or made to be in symbiosis with the rest of the universe everything will eventually cease to be.
Gorns eyes opened farther and he fell down to the floor. Now knowing the whole picture, he had the feeling that his life was about to change. What does this all have to do with me?
Let me explain a little bit to you. When the creator crated the universe, he was distracted during the finishing touches stage and forgot to complete his creation.  Nothing appeared to be wrong when he turned back to make sure it was done.
However, when he began to watch it, he noticed many things going wrong, all in a central area. Upon further inspection he noticed a mistake in his creation, the Flaw. He immediately began constructing six guardians that would serve to keep the Flaw bound to its tiny area of the universe.
Alas he began too late and everything that was in the surrounding area was tainted and became like the Flaw. The Creator saw this and he hurried his task of the guardians, moving in too much haste. He forgot to give them the one thing that they would most need, immortality.
The first six guardians were the six elements that the universe knows of today: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, and Dark. After they died, more guardians were chosen from among the people living then. These guardians received a new name, gods.
As time passed, the guardians grew weaker and weaker. The only way to gain strength back was to let loose the Flaw and slowly recuperate. The first to let go of the Flaw was Light. Light went away and disappeared. Soon Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind had left as well, leaving Dark to combat the Flaw alone. His name was Roshmayl.
Soon Roshmayl began to lose the fight. His powers were not enough to take on the Flaw. The other five Guardians ignored his calls for help, instead leaving him stranded with nowhere to turn. But Roshmayl was more cunning than any of them thought. While they went off in search of a quicker way to regain power, Roshmayl sacrificed his own life, or so he thought.
So what does this have to do with me? And how can you sort of die? Gorn interrupted.
This is very simple. Roshmayl didnt die, although the guardianship of Dark did. The Flaw quickly possessed Roshmayls soul. The pure evil inside of him pushed the Element out and into the universe. Without a master to control it, Dark Fell prey to the Flaw. Only a cruiser flying by saved it. The man inside didnt know what happened before the Element slammed into him and he became the new Guardian. Without any clue what was happening he quickly fled and the Flaw quickly broke free.
Years passed and we are now what we are today. I, Wodra, am the Guardian of Earth. Sel is the Guardian of Dark. Of all six of the Guardians, we are the only ones whom the Flaw has not completely destroyed. It threatens to overflow the universe. Sadly the Creator is not here to help us.
In order to defeat the flaw, we must first destroy Roshmayl. Hard as we try, we cannot defeat him. So we offered a contest: two opponents who are both mortal will fight a person of his choosing. We have already selected our two, and he has selected his. My choice is you, and Sels choice is Kai. Roshmayls choice is a Klucton raider.
Be very aware of this raider my friend. The Klucta are an insect-like race that carries an exoskeleton and natural spitting acid. As well as being nearly magic-proof, the Klucta are very quick, making them hard to hit. I believe that you two, a Magi and a Human, can defeat the Klucta. The Klucta have one weakness however. They are not very strong and have a short reach. Because of their insectlike nature, they are not able to use weapons.
Use any means necessary to defeat your opponent. The universe is counting on you.
Thoughts merged inside Gorns head and he fell back on the floor with a crash. No one ever thought that they would ever be chosen to save the universe.
As Gorn fainted, the goddess smiled. I will return you back to your ship. Sel will take you to where you must go. Good luck, youll need it.
