Chapter 10: Chaos Kai looked at the card in her hand. I cannot lose this battle. It read: CHAOS. It had a picture of a man inside of a room, with the furniture tearing apart all around him. Chaos? Is that good or bad?
Chaos is neither good for you, nor good for me. Alliances have been changed, and everything has been disrupted if it was in the least bit orderly. Now, since I am a creature of chaos, you must battle me after the change has occurred, if you want to win this battle. The nicely dressed man who was really the Flaw snapped his fingers. The room around Kai slipped into nothingness.
She awoke in her body in a black area, discomforted because of a mysterious lack of gravity. Looking further into the darkness, she noticed small dots of light. Stars. Turning completely around, she saw Flingeis, home now to all of the Magi, and to the most powerful magical artifact ever known to the universe. As she watched, it slowly started to explode around the center.
Pieces of rock started to dislodge themselves from the planet, and it took on a crater-pocked look. then the planet burst into splinters before her eyes. Strangely, she felt almost no emotion touched her as the planet broke apart. The star for the system she was in suddenly exploded, and a shockwave slammed Kai backwards. She heard and felt nothing in the emptiness of space.
Slowly, she was drawn towards the center of the Universe, along with everything else in existence. A mysterious force stopped her as she neared the center. In the distance she saw only two things.
A smooth voice broke through her thoughts. This is the universe as it is, now that it is redone. Nothing save the people inside our arena will stay. New civilizations will be created, and the universe can start over. However, the universe is now very small. There is an inverse world in the center, and our arena directly next to it. He smiled.
You said that I would have to fight you. When and where will this fight take place? She sneered as she said it.
The man laughed. You are right now fighting me. This is not a contest of strength, it is a contest of wills. Whoever breaks down to the pressure first, will forfeit the universe. He snapped his fingers once again. This time, the universe melted away to be replaced by the arena.
Gorn stood over Roshmayls now dead body holding Hinsor. Sel and Wodra were taking care for Kais body until they could manage to give her a proper funeral. Both were crying silently. Both of Gorns opponents lied on the floor of the room.
Suddenly, in a flash of red light, the man who represented the Flaw appeared in the room, followed closely by Kai. The man walked over to Gorn and grabbed his neck. Gorn reacted instantly by swinging Hinsor. It hit the man, and was absorbed into his body. With one swift move, the Flaw broke Gorns neck. The dead body fell to the floor with barely a sound.
Instead of killing the others, he looked at Kai. Come to do my bidding. Kill them all.
Kai shook her head in defiance. Her best friend had just been killed in front of her, and she had been helpless to stop it. She looked at Hinsor, which now lay on the floor. With a pop it disappeared and reappeared in the Flaws hand. It does not matter what you say now or ever. I will never do your bidding.
So be it. Then you yourself must-
The sword! If you can channel all of the powers of good through that sword, then you can defeat him. Sel stopped shouting.
Kai looked back at the Flaw with a new resolve in her eyes. She walked towards him calmly. You must die. I finally figure out how that sword of yours works. The essence of everybody you have ever killed resides there. That includes the other gods. Why didnt I see it before. The outside of the sword changes as you change what element that you are using.
Wodra looked at Sel in fear. Then why did the sword leave a black trail when Gorn killed Roshmayl?
Sel laughed evilly. Because he long ago took my soul. you will go next.
Kais heart almost stopped. Not only had one of her best friends died in front of her, another one of them was working for the Flaw! Anger welled up inside of her. Her hands started to blister from having to hold back the energy she wanted to use to destroy it.
Sel laughed. Suddenly his face changed from triumphant to serious, and he started towards Kai. She let loose the flood of power she had been holding back, all except a tiny bit. As the energy came from her hands she warped it into a combination of fire and ice. When the torrent hit Sel, he flew backwards with skin that was burnt blue.
So another one of my allies kicks the bucket. Very well fought Kai. Even now he was smiling. Look outside the window
Kai looked out of the window and saw the rest of the universe collapse in on itself, then bulge out in a perfect circle. Whats going on?
The new world is being formed at my will. The world is on the inside, with a small sun to provide light. Even if you fail, it is free to go its own way. The universe will not fail to exist simply because you are trying to kill a being more powerful than the gods. The Flaw smiled, the slowly lost his expression when he gazed upon Kai.
Tears flowed freely from her eyes. You twist the truth so that I may give up. There is but one object capable of destroying you totally, and it is on that world. I must halt your progress here so you do not beat me to the world. She looked at Wodra, her tears now starting to run dry. This sword has five out of six elements of good in it. You are the last.
Wodra turned, and her eyes met Kais. They stared at each other for a second then Wodra threw herself towards the sword. The dark sword claimed its last death then broke apart. The black metal flew in all directions, only to be replaced by a beam of brilliant white that shot out of the hilt.
Wodras body slumped to the ground. The normally bright eyes faded to an almost grey color. Blood did not flow from the wound. Wodra, the last of the gods, was now dead.
Kai looked at the Flaw and with a loud shout charged him. Thinking nothing of the attack, he attempted to sweep aside the blade. Instead of pushing it away, it cleanly severed his arm from his body. Kai held the crystalline sword up high then charged again.
As her last tear fell from her face, the sword pierced the flesh and bone surrounding the heart. A vile black liquid slimed over the radiant sword and then the room exploded. The worlds for Kai went white. Everything around her returned to chaos and the words This is not the end floated in her head. With another explosion she was knocked off of her feet and into the great nothingness outside of the arena.
