As Slayer stepped through the portal, he felt the world
behind him peel away. The blind eternity's stretched out before him.
This was the between worlds. Where the planes of existence
float on a sea of nothing, and everything. Living things are torn to shreds
in that maelstrom, their very corporeal form is ripped from them, and superheated
until it becomes pure energy. The sensation is quite painful, and Slayer
was glad he would not have to experience it.
Were they walked now, the unconscious beast Malaphar,
the dark-elf WhiteMage, the demon Daimon, and the mage master Slayer, was
a safe zone, so to speak, in the torrent of the between worlds. This spot
was created eons ago, a safe harbor for mortals when their planes of existence
became uninhabitable, for one reason or another. After the demon invasions
of most of the planes, this place became the new HQ of the resistance.
Before the walking figures, a white tower stood. The tower
was as wide as a canyon was long, and it's top spired on forever. No one
really knew if it had a top. no windows dotted it walls, there was nothing
to see beyond them anyway, and the only visible entrance was a set of double
doors, large enough to admit 6 full grown dragons abreast. those who knew
the tower, knew of the other entrances. 6 docking bays for fighter craft,
8 mobile suit bays, and one extra-large airship bay. These did not include
the thousands of portals that lead to other planes.
As the trio and their floating luggage neared the gate,
a figure came from human-sized door built into the larger doors. "Malaphar
again? Didn't you guys catch him already?" NeoFluffyBunny said, coming along
side the demon and checking the damage. "Sorry if he's a little crispy, But
I wasn't going for subtly when I blasted him." Slayer said, leaning on his
staff.
Neo Sighed, "He's ok, i'll send him off to the prison
plane as soon as I fill out the paper work. Oh, and the boss is waiting for
you." Slayer and company nodded and entered the tower. Once inside, the trio
we're greeted by a pair of robotic security guards. They had their ID's checked
an we're admitted into a long white corridor. The corridor was called 'the
long walk' by those who had to take it. A completely round walkway with an
invisible path to walk on. The walls flashed with multiple colors, scanners
that detected magical levels within a person. Other's gave inferred, Ultraviolet,
and x-ray scans. When they exited the tube, they were greeted by a familiar
face.
"About time." Grey said, leaning against the wall next
to the door of the tube, arms folded across his chest. Their greetings were
cut off by a booming voice from across the hall. "Hurry up you four! I don't
have all day!!" Slayer, WhiteMage, and Daimon waved to grey and walked towards
the boss's office. Grey followed, receiving curios stares from the group.
"What? you think i'm just here to great you? I've been called in too." Daimon
raised an eyebrow, "Since when have you done field duty? your best under
solo "covert operations"..." Grey shrugged, "Yea, I wondered the same thing...
The bosss office was littered with papers and computer
screens that gave never-ending read-outs of events throughout the multiverse.
The four wadded through the mess to a large table set-up just beyond a large
desk. They took seats and moved stacks of folders to the floor. WhiteMage
leaned back in his chair, setting his boots to the desk.
Guys, we have a problem. YF-19 Pilot said. The president
of the whole operation and this very tower spoke as he tossed a few piles
of reports to the floor from his desk, revealing his face. Were getting
reports from the fringe worlds, reports that say that a new faction has sprung
up in their current disputes.
A large globe appeared above the desk, showing most of
an entire universe. a small sphere flashed in one corner, and quickly grew
to encompass the entire holo-image. They have taken these systems... YF
tapped a few buttons on a pad, and 16 dots appeared in an arch on the image.
and have basically created a buffer between the warring clans.
Well thats not bad is it? They can finally stop their
stupid conflict and concentrate on the real trouble at hand... Slayer said.
Not exactly. YF responded, The reports say that the 3rd party has begun
attack the Sumifa colonists. Leaving the Fallaji war-host alone. This has
lead us to believe that the new faction is allied with the Fallaji.
Whitemage sneezed, and said I dont see what this has to do with us. Were
not a military faction, we have no place in this business...
We suspect the 3rd army to be demon.
That brought a deep silence to the room, Grey broke it.
What is the mission? YF answered, 2 teams, Daimon and Whitemage will goto
the Sumifa side and speak with their leaders. Get all the info you can, and
feel free to offer aid. Slayer and Grey will infiltrate the Fallaji and see
if the reports are true. If so, destroy their portals and elimnate the Fallaji
leaders that made the deal with the demons.
Slayer nodded, When do we leave?

( Forgive my lack of description of the internal tower, but it's the reason
that it took me so long to get this chapter up >_< )
