Attitudes of Slavery
Of all the things you will need as a slave, the most important is the right attitude.  Simply being submissive in nature is not enough.
A good slave does not put her own wishes and pleasures ahead of the Free.  She does not think only of herself when she is among them, nor does she think only of herself when she is not among them.
Slaves do not resent punishment or correction, they are grateful for the guidance.  A slave does not get angry at the Free for requesting service, or for instructing them.
Do you think you are right?  Maybe even know you are right?  Still, a Master is never wrong, and you would do well to remember that and not argue.
"Yes, Master." and "Thank you, Master." are the most important words you will ever utter once you have claimed the status of slave.  Make no mistake, slavery is a choice, despite the fact that it is your nature.  You choose to embrace it, and admit it, and to exercise it among men.  Be prepared to pay the consequences.
We all have bad days, and sometimes emotions run high, and self-control is hanging by a thread.  At times like this, if you forget your place, you will be taken to task for it.  When you cannot be at your best, do not go amongst Free People and expect them to make exceptions for your mood.  If you are slave, you are slave all the time, not just when you are not having a crabby day.
We all have great days too, with high spirits, and a strong urge to have fun, to lighten up and play a little, joke around perhaps.  By all means, enjoy it, but do not forget your place.  Gor can be very unforgiving, and a simple teasing comment can have repercussions that will stay with you for a long time.
Never stop striving for perfection, for as long as you keep a tight hold on that struggle within, you are growing in your slavery.  Challenge youself, but never challenge the Free.
Do not make the mistake of thinking yourself better than another, ego is not an attractive trait.
Slaves cannot possess honour, as a girl has been told many times, but that does not excuse us from acting as honourably as we are able within the confines of slavery.
Respect is not only a feeling we have for those special Free who inspire us to be better slaves, better people, who tug at our burning bellies and make us yearn to please...  It is also a behaviour, one we must always be conscious of.  We must always strive to treat with respect all Free People, whether we "feel" respect for them or not.
Treating other slaves and newcomers with courtesy is a wise course of action.  Many times this girl has seen new people become valued members of the Gorean community, when they were at one point simple tourists.  Making an enemy of one of them could have caused a girl more heartache than many can imagine, but treating them with basic kindness and common respect not only made her a better person, but made her a few friends along the way.
Most importantly, accept that you are human.  You will fall short of the ideals of slavery many times.  You will be corrected, and perhaps punished many times.  You will feel as though you have failed, and may be told you have failed many times.  The wonderful thing about human nature is that though we err, we have the capacity to recover and try harder.
Never give up on your ability to improve, and never forget there is always room for improvement.
