Made up on the spot for Master Kahless at His request for a short story.
norla smiles sweetly...There was a girl, who fell in love. Now this happens all the time, but for this girl it was a sweet tragidy...
for the man she fell in love with wasnot only young and strong, bold and brave, a warrior and a tarnsman, he was also...
A man with a destiny....
She had loved him all her life, and they were close, the parents on both side assumed they would be free companions when the time came, but as it often does on Gor, war came before love could fullfill it's destiny
The fighting was bloody and harsh, niether side could gain an advatage, and after a time it became clear that if it was not stopped both sides would fall prey to an outside party as they became to weak to protect themselfs
The leaders called a truce, and under the bright sun on a empty field, the struck a bargin, it was better to join as one, than to fall prey to others, and so, it was decided that the man she loved, most honored for his courage in battle, should take as his free compaion one of the girls of the ubar of the other city, thus joined the two citys would fight as one until they could rebuild enough so they could stand alone once more
The girl knew that he would not deny thier love... but that the cities must not fall for the love of a woman...
So she had her parents tell him she had died in the last battle from a bolt that had missed it's target and found her instead
She with thousands of others attended As he took the other woman for his free companion, she was beautiful, and in her eyes she could see that love had already taken root
she slipped out quietly knowing now that it would not be and empty joining of convinece for the cities...Her vails hid her tears as she run alone through the empty steets
Her mother was already at home when she got there, and smiles softly knowing the girls heart would break if nothing could be done, so she looked into her childs eyes, and there saw the answer to her unspoken question
Later, as one so close to the mans family, the mother had no problem in delievering a "gift" to the man, dressed in white silks, a collar of gold locked around her neck, the "gift" steped forward and kneels to Him, lowering her head as she raised her crossed wrists to Him...With a laugh of joy He took the girls wrists and bound them
norla smiles softly...And so the man lived happiely, for he had two women that loved Him, and they tried ever harder to show there love, and he was never to want for anything in His home.
