Storm Dance

This dance inspired by Garth Brooks and the song "The Storm". My life so seemed to fit what the words to this song were, and the dance plagued me for weeks until i wrote it. This is the only dance i have not polished and perfected. This is the raw state.

~ sits upon the sand, right leg curls beneath her, left leg bent at the knee and settled over the right, a slim arm drapes over the knee, head bowed deeply, the fall of silken tresses obscures her face, around her lies tumbles of silk, a single porcelin figurine of a dancer lies at the opposite end of the pit, broken, lifeless.

~ hears the soft piano come to life, her arm slides up to brush the fall of hair back to reveal the anguished face, her left foot slides through the sand, muscles pull her to her feet, a square of grey silk held tightly in her small fist, brings it to her face and inhales deeply, turning in a small circle, the silk flutters as a cloud in the sky, hurt green eyes focused on it.

~ jerks, head rises and her face twists, the body tenses, the anger, pain, confusion washes over her features, slim arm reaches out as she moves to the edge of the pit, before snapping back as she turns rapidly about the sands, the silk in her hands whips through the air, suddenly, she is still, nothing moves with the exception of her heaving chest and the silk that drops to her side.

~ looks to the dancer on the other side of the pit, tears course down the tormented features, light steps carry her to the figurine, knees hit the sand, body bent as gentle hands lift it, a finger traces the features of the doll as full hips roll, her body making her dance even as her pain consumes her, dropping the figurine to the sands, she turns away, dashing the tears from her cheeks.

~ pulls herself to her small height, the silk drawn before her body as a veil, lush curves undulate behind the translucent silk, full red lips press to the silk as jade eyes shine above it, thick dark lashes frame the tortured eyes, hands lower as the silk twirls about her body, concealing and revealing, shadows dance over the curves from the fire and silk combination.

~ twirls in a seris of figure eights, silk wraps around her body, auburn hair flows out from ivory features, the song reaches its crescendo, she falls back to the sand, legs under her, curves flattened into the sand, soft fists pound against the sand, body rocks softly in agony.

~ drags slim fingers through the sand, grey silk trails along as she pulls to her knees, fingers curl into fists as she brings the silk once more to her nose, inhaling deeply, her face lifts, she finds herself back at her starting place, sad eyes taking in the scattered silks.

~ draws her hands down, the silk dances lightly over her skin, she holds out her arm, and her fingers release the silk she has so clung to, the last bit of her past, she watches it float to the sand, her head drops to her chest as her hands rest palm down on spread thighs ~la kajira~
