The Nonny Chronicles

'Way back in 1997, I knew someone who had a tendency to lie. I felt for the man, but it was evident the problem had been around for awhile. For weeks I considered all the things that led up to his situation, and somewhere along the way Nonny was born.

Nonny, he's a good little boy, and everybody loves him too. Sadly, he has a little lying problem. In the first story in this series, So Smart Nonny, his family finds a way to stop it before it gets out of hand.

As time passed, I thought of Nonny often. People have found him to be a charming character, and the truth is, he deserves more attention. Nonny is meant to be everyboy, not just a WASPish "Johnny." He has many stories to tell, because he knows more than anyone that there's no such thing as a perfect childhood. His father travels often, he has an extended family, and a little sister who cries far too much. So after a great deal of thought, I decided to deal with grief by talking about a missing parent in Where is Papa?

Naturally while dealing with grief, my thoughts also turned to those days we all have when it seems we were never, ever happy and we hate everything about our lives. Nonny experiences that in The Unhappiness Day.

I would appreciate comments regarding this series, and suggestions for further stories. Being a youngest child, I'm leaning toward a story about Lee-Lee's tendency to cry at the drop of a hat, keeping Nonny at her mercy. Tell me what you think.
