Summary: Lindir and Elladan find love’s most enduring promise.

It
had been a day like any other, but it wasn’t. It was a day of the
celebration of the return of life’s most precious gift. It was the
return of two lovers, whose lives had been spent fighting to forever
be with each other. Their lives had been spent loving each other and
challenging rules and laws for the sheer pleasure of joining their feas
to the others. And in that fight others had joined them so they too
could love whom they wished to love, and have the same rights as everyone
else.
Lords Erestor and Glorfindel
had performed miracles of being with each other for thousands of years,
but nothing could have been sweeter than the reunion of the two star
crossed lovers of old. It had been said they had seen the sun and sea
make love. They had danced among the stars, and kissed the moon a thousand
times. They brought each other up and down, and when the two were together
it was said that the grace of the Valar themselves bowed down in their
presence for their love was that profound and beautiful. They would
not be the only ones, whose love was to be blessed by the Valar for
there were to be many find the same love as those before them.
Elladan watched the dancers
sway to the sweet music that Lindir played with his Lute. He didn’t
know when it was that his heart had been lost to the blond minstrel,
but he was forever in the debt of the Goddess of love for the favor.
He only wished it had happened sooner, for to feel such a feeling of
enigma was a feeling that he would have given over to freely.
He watched as the dancers swayed
to the music, and danced around the new married, or the marriage that
was now considered a marriage, couple whose love and happiness just
made everyone’s heart fill with pleasure. There were still some that
didn’t believe it was proper for same sex elves to be loving each
other, but they had been overridden especially when the Valar themselves
had appeared and made it clear that no elf would judge another unfairly.
Elladan had wondered what his father would think if he had known that
his own taste were that of the Captains and the Lord Counselor. How
would his father feel if he should know that it was Lindir that made
his heart swell with joy each time that his eyes laid upon the beautiful
blond musician?
Elladan had known for quite
a while that his taste had been different than that of his brother’s.
It had not concerned him much in the beginning for he thought he would
grow out of it, and find a good elf maiden to call his and bear him
children. But when he realized that it was not a passing fancy, and
that his desires ran deeper than he had realized was the moment when
he had doubted everything had believed in. Then there were Lords Erestor
and Glorfindel whose arrival had eventually shocked all the Realms of
Elvendom.
They had arrived as a couple,
the two of them, one as a newly appointed officer of the guard and his
beautiful mate in shimmering gowns of jewel toned colors complementing
alabaster skin. The two had arrived on a beautiful morning of spring
when the household was just beginning to wake. They had not been expected
to arrive for a few more days, but the new Captain had assured them
that he wanted to get his mate and elves to safety as quickly as possible.
Orcs had been spotted in the area, and even though his mate could hold
her own, he wanted to make sure that she and their elfling would be
safe.
Lord Elrond had been shocked
to hear that he pushed on so hard, but was relieved to know that Lord
Glorfindel put his elves and his mate first before engaging in any type
of fight. It said much for Glorfindel’s character, that he would want
to avoid any type of altercation if he could to avoid losing precious
lives. He had taken Glorfindel and his family in, and that is where
the story had truly begun.
It had eventually come to pass
that the maiden in the jewel toned dresses was no maid, but a Lord of
great standing. The story that had circulated around was that Lord Erestor
had died in battle, and that Lord Glorfindel had married his half sister
to keep her safe. The small child was theirs by their union, and so
was a legitimate heir of the House of the Golden Flower. It later came
to be that the child, Lindir, was Erestor’s sister’s, but she had
perished in an attack. Erestor had taken the child as his own, and from
there had assumed her identity so that he and Lord Glorfindel could
be together. No one would have been the wiser if three elves by the
name of Arwen, Elrohir, and Legolas had not caught the two making love.
It would have been alright
if Glorfindel had taken Erestor on his back, but instead had taken Erestor
on his knees with Erestor’s elfhood in full glory of those eager enough
to watch couples having sex. The story had spread like wildfire, and
before anything could be done, the two had been separated, married to
other females, and spent almost a lifetime being apart. Lindir had gone
with Erestor, and the two had not returned for many a year. It was not
until the three voyeuristic elves had fought so bravely for the overturn
of the harsh laws, that the two were reunited. They had raised families
of their own with their imposed mates, but everyone thought something
had been lost when the two had been split. It never occurred to anyone
that the two would pick up directly were they had left off, and that
the two had loved the other even more than before. Elladan had wondered
after that if it was true that the heart never forgot the one it truly
loved.
With the return of the Balrog
Slayer and his beautiful Lord came with them their families and their
families’ families. Lindir had been riding next to Erestor on that
most wondrous day, and Elladan’s heart had swelled, along with other
things, when Lindir had come into view. He did not believe in love at
first sight, but there is always something that makes people believers
of one thing or another.
Lindir sat atop a beautiful
mare with his blond hair flowing down the back of his riding cloak.
His eyes were like blue sapphires placed amongst the windows of the
soul. His skin was the color of alabaster, and his lips were as red
as rose petals. Linder’s body was that of a warrior but his hands
were that of a poet. Soft and delicate like that of marble. Elladan
could not take his eyes off the beautiful elf. He could forever within
his minds eye, and every image was more and more beautiful than the
next with many images on the erotic side. He couldn’t tear his gaze
away until the elf of his desire, sensing he was being watched, turned
and caught Elladan gazing at him with an intensity of a hunter looking
upon his prey. When Elladan had realized that he was caught he tried
to pretend that he was doing something else, but the smile upon the
beautiful elf’s face told him that he had been caught, in several
different ways.
That had been the last time
that Elladan had seen his heart. From here on out, the owner of the
heart had been Lindir, and no one else would ever be able to win it
back for him. It had taken Elladan almost six months to start talking
to Lindir, and then another six months to be able to form complete sentences.
After that Lindir had taken mercy upon the half-elf and started to let
Elladan court him. It was not until the year of Erestor’s and Glorfindel’s
marriage in the eyes of all of the elven realms, that Elladan had decided
to take the final step in trying to win Lindir’s heart.
Elladan came back to the present,
and as the music ended he knew that he would need to take his chance
or forever lose Lindir forever. The musicians exited the stage, and
that is when Elladan decided to just go for it. As everyone was going
to take get some refreshments, Elladan grabbed Lindir’s hand and dragged
him to the nearest secluded spot that he could find. It just happened
that the spot that the two ended up sported a most beautiful waterfall.
As they arrived he could feel trepidation in Lindir’s touch. Elladan
turned around to face the vision of his dream, and did what he thought
he would never do. He leaned in and placed a kiss that conveyed so much
emotion that nothing was left.
Lindir looked at him with such
confusion on his face, that Elladan thought he trespassed where he should
not have. Confusion laced Elladan heart and in that moment he wondered
what he had done wrong, so within that moment asked the question that
might completely tear his heart out.
“What is wrong? Did I do
something wrong?”
“Yes, I mean no. I mean I
don’t know. This is so new to me. I don’t know if I can do this
with you.”
“Why not?” Elladan was
confused now.
“Because you are the son
of a powerful Lord, and do you think that he would accept me as your
partner? Do you honestly think he would want his child to be with a
nobody?”
Elladan was taken back by his
words. How could Lindir think that he was a nobody?
“You’re not a nobody. You’re
a somebody to me, and if anyone says otherwise then they will have to
answer to me. If my father does not like you then that is his problem.
I don’t see why you are so insecure about this. Your uncle has proven
in more than one way that no matter what love is all that matters.”
“Do you know what they went
through? Do you not know how much pain he suffered, because of your
family? He hated his mate. She was such a horrible person, and she made
his life almost unbearable. Besides his children, there was no joy in
his life. He thought he would sail after my last cousin was an adult.
He was just so sad.”
“But he didn’t, and that
is what matters. He never gave up hope, and if anything he faced adversity
in the face and laughed at it. Lindir when I look upon your face I can
see the stars dance within your eyes when you laugh. I have seen the
sun make love to the sea, and have kissed the moon a thousand times,
but nothing compares to looking upon your face and seeing the love that
I know that is there within your heart. And I would be honored if you
would at least give me a chance to show you how to dance among the clouds,
because you’re my number one.”
Lindir looked upon the Peredhel twin and he knew at that very moment that his heart would be safe, and that he would never let anyone hurt him ever.
