"Glorfindel! What ails you?!" Elrond cried, making a frantic grab for the documents on his desk about to be destroyed by a tide of black ink. Looking up he raised an eyebrow to his companion.

Glorfindel blushed, and assisted Elrond with cleaning his desk. "I am sorry, my Lord. I fear I am simply not myself today. A bit tired I suppose." Glorfindel replied, handing Elrond the rest of the documents he had managed to save. Elrond took them, a smile forming on his lips.

"I would imagine so, my friend. You have worked very hard to assure all is ready for the Solstice Masquerade!" he murmured. "Have you even had time to prepare a mask for yourself?" he asked.

Glorfindel's blush deepened, and he shook his head. With a fatherly pat on his shoulder, Elrond moved from behind the desk and towards the large cabinet at the opposite end of the room.

"I anticipated as much," Elrond said, opening the cabinet door, and pulling out a small box. "That is why I took the liberty of having a mask made for you. You really should go, Glorfindel. You worked so hard, and you have hardly taken any time for yourself lately." he finished. Crossing the room to stand next to Glorfindel, Elrond handed him the box.

With a smile, Glorfindel opened the box. Inside, was the most beautiful mask he had ever seen. It was a small mask, just the type to cover only half the face. It was made of a beautiful deep green velvet material, with intricate golden embroidery along the edge. Glorfindel looked back up at Elrond, his smile growing even wider.

"Thank you my Lord! It's just the thing," he said. "But if I am to make it to the Masquerade on time, I must hurry!" he exclaimed. With a laugh, Elrond shoved the golden haired elf out the door, and watched as he took off down the corridor towards his room at a run. Tossing the papers back on to his desk, and headed to get ready for festivities himself.

A half hour later, all of Imladris gathered in the Hall of Fire. The Hall was brilliantly decorated with all kinds of greenery. Candles lined huge tables of food and drink. musicians tuned their instruments . A quietness came over the Hall when Elrond entered with his sons and daughter, and approached the dias.

"Friends, we are gathered this Solstice night, in celebration. Even though it is the dead of Winter, we already begin to hope, and rejoice in the fact that Spring will come again. We rejoice that our friends and loved ones are here with us now to celebrate. But most importantly,Let us all be thankful for the many blessings that have been given to us this year. Enjoy the festivities everyone!!"

A mighty cheer rose from the crowd as Elrond and his family took their seats, and Elrond signaled for the music to begin. He was pleased that the Masquerade seemed off to a smooth start - he only hoped the night would finish just as well for a certain elf.

Glorfindel stood off to the side, safely tucked away behind a table, glass of wine in hand while he listened to Elrond's customary Solstice speech. He was very pleased with how the decorations for the Hall had turned out. The food was excellent as usual, and the musicians were the same of course. So why on Earth did he feel so miserable? Draining the last bit of Wine from his goblet, he stepped forward to put it on the table, when someone gently tapped his shoulder from behind. Setting the goblet safely on the table, Glordindel turned around, and could not keep in the gasp that made it's way past his lips.

Before him stood the most stunning Elf he had ever seen. Hair as white as the Winter snow cascaded down broad shoulders. A smile formed on full lush lips, making him note how delicate the Elf's cheekbones, and indeed every other feature seemed. Eyes as green as any forest looked directly at him in quite a forward manner. With a small shake of his head, Glorfindel forced himself to stop staring, and he directed his gaze to the rest of the Elf. Just slightly smaller them himself, he had broad shoulders, and he couldn't help noticing that the Elf's hair fell all the way to a very trim waist. Dressed very becomingly in white, with a white and golden mask, the creature before him made for quite the vision.

"Are you real?" the words escaped Glorfindel's mouth before he could stop them. The Elf in front of him laughed and placed a slender hand on Glorfindel's shoulder, giving him a reassuring pat.

"Real indeed. Forgive me if I am forward, but I was hoping that I might have the next dance?" the elf asked. Before Glorfindel could even nod, he found himself firmly but gently lead to the floor to dance. Before Glorfindel could even draw his next breath it seemed, the festivities were dying down, and everyone was heading home or to their rooms. With a sigh, Glorfindel took a step back from his partner. Had he really danced with the Elf ALL night? With a regretful smile, Glorfindel looked up at the other Elf.

"The night has ended so quickly," he murmured. The Elf smiled and gently brushed a teasing stroke across Glorfindel's cheek.

"It doesn't have to." he replied.

That was all Glorfindel needed to feel confident enough to take his partner's hand and lead him to his rooms. Once they were standing outside his door, Glorfindel opened his mouth to speak, but all breath had fled his body as the other Elf gently captured Glorfindel's lips with his own. With a blissful sigh, Glorfindel surrendered easily to the kiss, looping his arms around the Elf's waist. He let out a small moan when the kiss was deepened, and his body was brought flush against that of...

"Wait," he gasped, pulling away. "I don't even know who you are. Please, let me take off your mask"? Glorfindel pleaded,

Reaching down between them, the other Elf brought Glorfindel's hand up behind his head to where a piece of ribbon secured the mask. With a shaking hand, Glorfindel tugged at the ribbon to reveal the most exquisite face he'd ever seen.

"I am Lindir." the beauty replied, before promptly leaning down and kissing Glorfindel once more, reaching behind Glorfindel's head to take off his mask. After a moment he stepped back to inspect his partner.

"Beautiful," he breathed, smiling. "What is your name?"he asked.

"Glorfindel," the Elf replied with a smile, turning to open the door. "Won't you please come in Lindir?" he asked, stepping aside to let Lindir pass. With a smile, Lindir nodded and proceeded past Glorfindel into the room.

After a few hurried moments of lighting some candles, and safely setting their masks on top of the dresser, Glorfindel returned to Lindir's side, and gently tugged him towards the bed. Kicking off his boots, he laid down and pulled Lindir down on top of him. With a smile, Lindir brushed a stray strand of hair out of Glorfidel's face, with such tenderness and intimacy that Glorfindel felt overwhelmed. Never before had he been treated so gently, so kindly.

Bending down to give a quick kiss to Glorfindel's lips, Lindir moved to his ear.

"I wanted you from the first moment I saw you Glorfindel." he whispered, giving a slight thrust of his hips into Glorfindel's to prove his point.

Glorfindel closed his eyes and gave a small moan which delighted and aroused Lindir even more.

"Then, Lindir, I don't think it's very fair of me to keep you wanting any longer." Glorfindel replied, reaching down between them to tug off his suddenly annoying breeches. Within seconds, Glorfindel lacked not only his breeches, but tunic as well, and Lindir took to an avid exploration of this delightful new treat. Tenderly kissing his way down Glorfindel's neck, he proceeded to worry each of Glorfindel's nipples before deciding to explore some more. When he finally reached Glorfindel's stomach, he was gently pushed away.

"You have on too many clothes, Lindir!" Glorfindel admonished. With a smile, Lindir sat up and in a few movements had tossed his shirt into the corner. His breeches were a bit more of a struggle, but after a moment, those were gone as well.

"Much better," Glorfindel announced, as Lindir resumed his place, straddled across Glorfindel's lap. Glorfindel reached out with eager arms to bring Lindir down for a kiss, and brought both their bodies into blessed, full contact. Lindir deepened the kiss even more this time, swiping his tongue across Glorfindel's bottom lip, asking entrance. Immediately, Glorfindel opened himself to Lindir's demanding kiss, and he thrust his hips against Glorfindel, wanting even more. With a gasp, Lindir tore his mouth from Glorfindel's and resting his head on his shoulder, answered Glorfindel's demanding thrusts. A sweet pressure began to build in both of them as they thrust and gasped, until finally, they both fell over the edge. Lindir rested against Glorfindel for a moment, trying to force some air back into his lungs, before turning his attention back to his partner, who wore a very goofy smile indeed. With a chuckle, he asked, "More, my lovely?"

"More!" Glorfindel replied, reaching between them to cover his hand in their combined seed. Once satisfied, he took Lindir's already growing arousal and tenderly stroked new life into it. Lindir's hand joined Glorfindel's on his length, getting his hand wet as well. After a few more moments of that game, Lindir moved his hand lower to Glorfindel's taught, round buttocks, gently pushing, seeking entrance to his body.

With a hiss, Glorfindel pushed down, eager for more of this new sensation. He wanted more. He wanted to feel full, and loved, and cherished. When Lindir added another finger, Glorfindel once again moaned his appreciation, and pushed down harder on Lindir's questing fingers.

"Enough, Lindir! Please!" he pleaded, wrapping his legs around the Elf's waist in encouragement. Seizing Glorfidel's mouth with a demanding kiss, Lindir gently entered Glorfindel, stopping once he was all the way in. After a moment, Glorfindel temptingly moved his hips against Lindir, and that was all the encouragement needed. Slow, shallow thrusts soon weren't enough, Glorfindel became completly greedy for more, pushing his hips down hard and fast to take more of Lindir in him. Anything to keep up this intense pleasure and pressure that was building inside him. Lindir wrenched his lips away from Glorfindel's, and rained kisses across the Elf's face, down his neck, until he came to his collar bone. Latching on, gently sucking, Lindir increased his pace. The sensations intensified for both of them, and soon Glorfindel came with a loud sob, and Lindir soon followed. Both shaking, short of breath, and still intimately connected, both Elves looked at each other and smiled. Both cursed when a loud bang sounded from the door.

"Glorfindel! Glorfindel! It's Elrond! I'm coming in!"

With a start, Glorfindel sat up in bed, completely disoriented. What? It was daylight? Why was he in his room, and in his Masquarade clothes? Where was Lindir? Rubbing his eyes, he tried to focus on Elrond, who had made his way to Glorfindel's side, and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Good Morning Glorfindel!" Elrond greeted cheerfully. "You missed a rather good party last night, I must say!"

"I did?"

"Yes. I gave you your mask, and you went to change. I guess, after you changed, you decided to rest your eyes for a moment. When I came to check on you a little while later, I didn't have the heart to wake you. I hope you're not upset?"

"Upset? No, no. It's just I had the strangest dream," Glorfindel replied, shaking his head in an attempt to clear the fog.

"Ah, well, you must tell me all about it at breakfast. Come along, we've got a guest I'd like you to meet. He's to be our new bard." Elrond said, standing up, allowing Glorfindel to do the same, and straighten out his clothes and hair.

"Fascinating. What's his name?"

"Lindir."
