| Zero was originally created by Dr. Light's rival, Dr. Wily. Wily had always tried time and time againt to destroy Megaman, Light's greatest creation. When Wily's greatest creation, an insubordinate and cocky robot named Bass had pissed him off enough, he decided he needed to build a robot capable of destroying both Megaman and Bass. This robot was Zero. About 100 years later, Zero was found inside a cave, totally insane (there is a theory that he killed off all the Megaman characters, including Dr. Light and Megaman). Sigma battled him, and almost was defeated, except Zero's systems glitched and a W appeared in his crystal for a split second, giving Sigma the upper hand. Sigma destroyed Zero, but in doing so it is believed that a virus Zero carried, believed to be the Sigma virus now, was transfered to him. After the battle, Sigma wanted to learn more of Zero and had his men take him back to Cain for repairs. Zero was repaired and he seemed to be normal again. He joined the Hunters and Sigma became his mentor. Shortly after though, Sigma went Maverick, and Zero teamed up with X to take him down. Zero self destructed himself while him and X were fighting Vile, an ex-Hunter, destroying his ride armor and giving X the upper hand. Zero was later repaired again after his parts were recovered from an evil group of Mavericks known as the X Hunters. A few years later, a female Reploid named Iris joined the Hunters as a part of her training for an army called the Repliforce. The Hunters and the Repliforce were on the verge of conflict, being led partly by Iris' brother Colonel. Iris made Zero swear never to fight him, and eventually feelings developed between them, although Zero never admitted them. War broke out and Zero, overcome with rage and the sense of duty to destroy the enemy, fought Colonel and killed him. When Iris found out, she took an armor program that wasn't right for her and chose to fight Zero. Zero defended himself, and after Iris had fallen, he rushed to her side. Iris revealed her feelings for Zero and then died shortly after. Zero then broke down and showed emotion for the first time. He held her lifeless body and cried out, wanting to know what he was even fighting for. After fighting a fierce battle with Sigma, and selflessly stopping the Eurasia Colony Crash, Zero was badly damaged. He later awoke fully repaired, not knowing where he was or how he got there. Zero went into hiding while Gate's nightmare creation tarnished his name, then, after coming out and helping X vanquish Sigma again, he told X of the danger he presents and sealed himself in a capsule for 102 years so his systems would be purged of the virus that is his true form. | |||||||
