Lyrics: BEAUTIFUL - HIM, posted on list by Tash.

Summary: looking back on life.

Just one look into your eyes

One look and I'm crying

'Cause you're so beautiful

I've had a lot in my life so far. More than a lot of people could dream of. I've had the chance to make my dreams come true, I've had good friends by my side to support me through the highs and the lows and most importantly, I had you. I look into your beautiful blue eyes, watching the tears fall down as you feel, like myself, that the end is coming nearer.

Just one kiss and I'm alive

One kiss and I'm ready to die

'Cause you're so beautiful

It's like my life started when I met you. You were only just 18, I was about to turn 20. We didn't bond quickly as you were so shy then and it took a while before you opened up to me but once you did it didn't take long for us to get together. But then one night as we were away from home you came to me. You were homesick and needed comforting. I took you in my arms and as your tears subsided you looked in my eyes and leant closer, making our lips meet. You haven't kissed me in a while now. I reckon you're scared with all these tubes in me but I need you to kiss me. Just one last kiss, before it's too late. You must have sensed what I'm thinking as you lean closer, brushing your full lips over mine, so carefully it's as if you think I'll break. I suppose that's not too far from the truth really.

Just one touch and I'm on fire

One touch and I'm crying

'Cause you're so beautiful

You sit down on the chair beside my bed - you've almost not left that chair in the past week, ever since the doctors told you there was nothing more they could do and the end was nearing. You take my hand in yours, caressing it with your thumb. The touch feels like it's burning, or is that because my skin is cold? It's a good kind of burning though, warming me up inside as I know you love me. I want to stay with you my love, but I can't hold on much longer. I've fought for so long now, I can't keep fighting. It's been too long.

Just one smile and I'm wild

One smile and I'm ready to die

'Cause you're so beautiful

You also feel it's that time and you smile for me as tears still stream down your eyes. I know it's hurting you but you're trying to be brave for me, trying to let me know it's OK to let go, to give in and end my suffering. I can't say it's been easy for me but it's been even harder on you and I know the pain's just starting for you. We've built our lives around each other since we met and now you'll have to learn to live without me. "I'll never be gone, love," I promise. "I'll keep watching over you." You nod, taking my hand in yours even stronger. "I'll never forget you," you whisper back. At that I can't take it any longer, I'm so tired, I need to sleep. You nod and smile for me through the tears: "It's OK, rest now. You need it."

Oh and you're so beautiful

My darling

Oh you're so beautiful

You're so beautiful

Oh my baby

You're so beautiful

And you're so beautiful

Oh my darling

Oh my baby

And you're so beautiful

They're laying my body in its final resting place now but I'm still watching over you, I always will do that. You're still so beautiful even now with red-rimmed eyes from crying. Your best friend tries to comfort you but you shrug off his hand, telling him you want only me to comfort you. I move closer and whisper: "I'm watching over you." As if you heard that, a small smile plays on your lips and you tell him: "He's not gone. He promised he'd keep watching over me." He smiles and puts his arm around you: "I'm sure he's watching over you now." And he's right, I am watching over you and I smile as I know that with a little help from our friends you'll be alright...

THE END
