Description:

He looks nothing much like either of his parents, with his wild blonde hair and green eyes (his mother has crimson hair and grey eyes, his father black hair and dark brown eyes). He's tall (about 5'11") and slender, toned from strenuous exercise and his active lifestyle. Despite how much time he spends in the sun, he's naturally fair complexioned so the most he manages is to burn then tan very lightly. He doesn't normally put much thought into his appearance, nor does he take into consideration that the reason people stop and stare at him is because he's rather good-looking.

Personality:

Kai had always been a wild child - jumping from one adventure to the next, never slowing down for a breath. While he's not exactly fickle (he has maintained a one-year relationship, after all), Kai is very impulsive, which at times can be good and others absolutely horrible. In fact, if he weren't homosexual, he probably would have already been married. He's easygoing and fun-loving, always present with a cheerful grin.

While he may be perpetually happy and...well, somewhat bouncy, he *can* be serious if need be. He just enjoys living life for fun and not letting himself be hampered down by stress and depression (being the son of a very rich man can help a little, though *wink*). Despite what his profile seem to say, he's not all about vibrant love affairs; he loves having friends and people around him. What he fears more than anything else is simply being alone; dark, shut places terrify him and sink him into a melancholy he does not seem capable at times. He is very open with his emotions: anyone could tell whether he's happy, sad, mad, or any other heartfelt feeling just by glancing once at his face and eyes, both of which are very expressive.

History:

The best place to start with this is to begin with his parents. Eileen MacKenzie had been a simple Irish gal born to a large family hard-on-the times; Gregory Dean was the son of the owner of an international publishing company, commonly known as DBI (Dean Books, Incorporated) and had lived the majority of his life in England. They had become involved in a storybook romance when he transferred to study business in Ireland and she worked at a small cafe near the university. In the end, he had conceded to his father's wishes and returned home, to England while she had stayed behind, unbeknownst to him, pregnant. As soon as he discovered his error in leaving her, the usually calm and dignified man rushed back just in time to stop her from marrying one of her old school friends. All his life, Kai has yearned for someone who can be to him like his parents are to each other, and although he's not always brooding over it or acting on it, that yearning is one of the driving factors that make him who he is.

All through his life, Kai has had the temperament of the stereotypical Irish and the impulsiveness that neither of his parents possess. It is these two traits that ultimately always led him into trouble, from his discovery of the words 'gay' and 'homosexual' to his flight to France with the current 'love of his life'. Never has Kai felt any inclinations towards taking over after his father; he'd just as well leave that to his younger brother who was quite happy to live in an office all his life, marry a pretty woman, and have multitudes of children. Kai is the first-born of his parents, the child of their secret love affair that shocked his father's conservative parents. He continued to surprise and unnerve the family as he grew older, especially as he was openly gay, yet somehow managed to keep their affection, if it was grudgingly given. With his paternal grandparents, it was a matter of merely *not* mentioning it or bringing any of his so-called 'lovers' around; his parents, having known him all his life, accepted him as being who he is and, although they had the occasional complaint, for the main part stayed out of his love (and sex) life.

Since he had a rather large bank account and credit card allowance at his every whim, Kai traveled very often. He attended boarding schools in America and England both. The one time he stayed in a country besides America or England for a long period of time was when he ran away with his lover at age fifteen. Altair Nevean, an aspiring artist and Kai's elder by some five years, was of the same mind as his 'amour' - irrational when the time came to think things through and in the habit of grabbing life and running with it before seriously considering consequences. Kai attended a French school that year until he was summoned by his mother after the end of the school term. By then the excitement of eloping had simmered, and he was ready to fly back home. It was a whim that led him to Ireland, one that both of his parents had heartily approved. He would spend the last couple of weeks of summer with his maternal grandparents, then head to the boarding school.

Additional Information:

His full name is Christopher Dean, but only his family and relatives refer to him as that. All his friends call him Kai. That nickname comes from an endearment that his first lover had given to him. That had been the summer he spent in Hawaii before he turned fourteen. Promiscuous little devil... Also, he was born in Ireland (though he lived most of his life in either England or the USA with a one-year stay in France) and mixes American, British, and the occasional French when speaking.

After stepping off the plane, Kai took a long, deep drag of fresh, Irish air. Somehow, it seemed so much purer in rural Ireland than the big cities he usually haunted. He flicked a strand of errant blonde hair from his line of sight and scanned over the crowd of teeming people for a old, grey-haired couple. A sudden movement to his right caught his attention and he noticed two pairs of arms waving furiously. A grin spreading across his face, Kai hurried through the security line, then proceeded to jump both his grandfather and grandmother. "Mamie! Grandpa!" he exclaimed jubilantly.
