Review:
A dead soldier (and quite the unlikable guy in his pre-war life, as we are led to believe) is revived after being shot down in a "friendly fire" incident in the Gulf War. His corpse is shipped back to his hometown just in time for the 4th of July, and that's when the fun begins.
If you call mindless, stupid movies fun, that is. See, Uncle Sam does have its moments of great cheesy fun, but for the most part, and I mean the MOST part, it's just really really stupid. The deaths suck, the characters are stupid, and the killer is, well, dumb. You can't sympathize with anybody in this flick, and that just doesn't work. You'll be setting off fireworks when this trash finally ends.
Trivia: Director William Lustig and writer Larry Cohen (the man behind those awful 70s movies It and It's Alive!) have worked together before on other horror projects, including Maniac Cop. Isaac Hayes, the hero of Uncle Sam, played the immortal role of the Chef on South Park, and one of the townspeople in the film is played by P.J. Soles, who was one of Michael Myers' original victims in the first Halloween.
