Review: Believe it or not, I think this film is my favorite of the Chainsaw series. It's not as scary as the first film (and some would argue that it's not scary at all), but ultimately I think it's a better movie. Funnier, gorier, and with a better story--therefor, a cooler slasher movie.
Taking place 13 years after the original, we find out at the beginning of Chainsaw 2 that despite the testimony of Sally from the first film, no official word has ever been made regarding the odd slayings all over southern Texas.
Dennis Hopper plays a sherrif consumed by the need to bring the family to justice, and he joins forces with a radio DJ looking for a way to the big leagues. They track the family down to a Texas amusement park, hidden beneath which is a carnival of corpses, bones, and other Chainsaw Series paraphernelia.
This is one of those movies that didn't sit well with me the first time I watched it, but upon a second viewing, I really found it entertaining. There's a very gleeful, 80s vibe that pervades the whole flick, a sort of campy (but not annoyingly campy) air about it that was missing in any of the other Chainsaw flicks. I highly reccommend this movie to anyone who's never had the chance to see it, as it excells above the other sequels in the Chainsaw series.
