Despite a well recieved set with his new band The Ju Ju Hounds in 1992, he seemed happiest out of the spotlight. It didn't take long for Guns n' Roses to find a replacement for one of it's oldest members. Before there were rumours of a split but these rumours ended when Axl brought in new rhythm guitarist, Gilby
Clarke. Before Guns n' Roses started work on their fifth album under Geffen Records, they began to tour again. Some shows they did with The Rolling Stones. They then began to work on their fifth album, "The Spaghetti Incident?" "The Spaghetti Incident?" was hailed as one of the most disgusting album covers ever. "The Spaghetti Incident?" was a cover album. They covered bands such as The Skyliners, Nazareth and punk band The UK Subs. This album was finally released by the band in 1995. By this time Duff was singing as well. Matt had begun to do backing vocals a lot more than he
had on the "Use Your Illusion" albums. Opinion was divided on "The Spaghetti Incident?" Many fans felt that because it was a cover album it did not have the Guns n' Roses "sound" to it. Overall, considering these opinions, "The Spaghetti Incident?" was well recieved. Duff said that there was an actual "spaghetti incident." It was, apparantly, when Duff had eaten all Adler's spaghetti. Adler tried to gain a small profit from "The Spaghetti Incident?" but with no avail. Guns n' Roses never toured after the release of "The Spaghetti Incident?" Sadly soon after the breakdown of Guns n' Roses began.
The remaining members began to leave. Slash, Duff and Matt all left at various points due to "musical differences" with Axl. Gilby left soon after, after only one album with Guns n' Roses. Dizzy Reed and Axl stayed together, determined that Guns n' Roses had not ended. They began the beginings of a new band. Since Axl owned the name Guns n' Roses, he kept the name. He began to bring in replacments. Buckethead was brought in to replace Slash, so called because he always wore a KFC bucket on his
head. He kept Dizzy Reed on keyboards. He then brought in Paul Tobias to play guitar, but he left and Richard Fortus was brought in to replace him. Robin Finck was also another guitarist to be brought into Guns n' Roses. They brought in new drummer, Josh Freese, but he left to tour with A Perfect Circle.  Brain was brought in to replace him. Tommy Stinson replaced Duff McKagen on bass. They began work on the latest album, "Chinese Democracy." For 10 years they have been "putting the finishing touches on the album." They have released material from the album. Singles "The Blues," "Madagascar," and "Oh My God" have been brought out, but so far no album has been released.
In 1999 Guns n' Roses, or more specifically Axl, released "Live Era '87 - '93" This was a live album featuring performances from Live ?!*$ Like a Suicide" to the "Use Your Illusions." Fans were also divided on this album as there were rumours that the crowd noises had been added in, and some songs had been "doctored" to sound better than they were actually
recorded. "Live Era '87 - '93" was a double CD. It included hits like "Move to the City," "Sweet Child o' Mine," and the Terminator 2 theme, "You Could Be Mine." It has been the closest that Guns n' Roses have
been to a greatest hits. At this point both Axl and Slash
admitted that the crowd noises on "Live ?!*$ Like a Suicide" had been added after the album had been recorded in the studio.
Soon after Slash, Duff and Matt, who had kept in touch, began to plan a new band. They soon did, and found vocalist, Scott Weiland, ex Stone Temple Pilots singer. They soon decided between two names, Reloaded and Velvet Revolver. They decided on Velvet Revolver. Within a couple of months they released "Set Me Free." They are planning to release an album, but have not given a date yet.
In 2002 Guns n' Roses played at the Carling and Leeds festival. Soon The Offspring decided to annoy Axl and said that they were going to call their album "Chinese Democracy." They soon backed off after Axl threatened legal action.
Everyone is now waiting on the new album. They gave one of their many release dates as July 1st 2003, but this has passed and still no album. Axl has meant to have had guitar lessons and is playing a little on the new album. He says that this is one of the reasons that the album has not been released yet. It would seem that while Velvet Revolver are planning new singles and are ready to tour afterwards, Guns n' Roses are not ready to do much. The "Chinese Democracy Tour" featuring Axl's new Guns n' Roses was launched but they only got halfway round the world when it stopped, due to Axl falling out with band members. Steven Adler is trying to get Axl to
get the originals back together. He says that Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff and he could work together again and bring out the second Appetite for Destruction. However Axl says this has already been done, claiming he "broke the new Gunners in" by making them re-record Appetite for Destruction into Appetite for Re-Construction.
The latest date has not been set for the release for "Chinese Democracy" and fans can only wonder if there will be a re-union of the original Gunners, if so who will be there? Adler or Sorum? Stradlin or Clarke? They can only wonder how long until "Chinese Democracy" is released and if it will, because there are rumours that Geffen Records have dropped Guns n' Roses claiming they have taken too long to release the album. So the band that toured with the likes of Queen, The Rolling Stones, and Elton John may be no more...
