History
I contemplated doing a long history, but this will have to do for now. For more info, just drop me a line.

Thanksgiving 1993:

Slappin Grama (then called Moose) write their first songs in Scott's basement with two guitars and a four track. Some of the earliest tunes include
Kenneth, Norbert, Little Boy Playing in the Meadow, Praise the Lord, Cariboo, I Think I Shot My Girlfriend and Moose (featuring Cow). The one sided cassette was passed around local high schools, and copies still remain in circulation today.
May 1994:
Scott buys a drumset and he and Dave begin practicing daily while Scott learns more than one beat. The search for a bass player begins.
August 1994:
Daniel Fishel is recruited to play bass for the band but is quckly moved to guitar. Dave switches over to bass and continues to carry the lead vocals, while Scott picks up a second drum beat The group begins to mature with such new tunes as
The Cowboy Song, Kill My Neighbor, Where's My Dad, and a rocking cover of Henry the Eighth.
October 1994:
Slappin Grama play their first "official" show at Club Hellenbach in Winston Salem NC with the
Naked Angels and some other band. The trio would continue to play shows throughout the Piedmont Triad for the better part of the next year with local acts such as Squatweiler, Daub, Fall Without Fear and Jet Crown Dixie (among others).
February 1995:
Slappin Grama enters HNBC studio in Winston-Salem to record their first cassette with producer Greg Robbins. The three would record twelve songs that would be released as
Slappin Grama: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The recording is well recieved throughout town, although Daniel still has unsold copies to this day.
August 1995:
Slappin Grama play the last of their "early years" shows at Club Hellenbach with
Line Drive, among others.
September 1995-June 2003:
Although never officially broken up, Slappin Grama go on an extended hiatus. During the period Dave would play bass (and sometimes drums) in Winston-Salem's now legendary
Seed with Owen and Gavin from Line Drive. While attending school in Boone NC, Scott would play drums for acts such as Harbinger and heavy rock favorites The Karloffs, while sharing guitar duties in the Elvis tribute band The Hellvis Presley Overdrive. Daniel would attend school at NC State in Raleigh and has not been heard from since. We hear that today he lives in Winston-Salem and drives races cars.
June 2003:
Together in the same town again with an available practice space, Dave and Scott reform Slappin Grama. They begin relearning a number of the songs from their back catalog but eventually decide to stick with mostly brand new material. Only Moose and Norbert survive from the early days. The search for a bass player goes out again.
August 2003:
Following a stiff competition with a number of quality players, Dave and Scott choose Elmon May as the new bass player for Slappin Grama 2003. The band begins teaching him the songs and start looking to play out.
October 2003:
Slappin Grama play their first show back (with many to follow afterwards) at the Black Cat in Boone NC with
The Karloffs and the Torched Avenger.
November 2003:
Slappin Grama goes into the studio with producer Peter May to lay down a demo of their newer tunes. They record as much as they can as quickly as they can and finish off with 17 tunes, 15 of which would become the demo
Slappin Grama ...Save the Day. Copies are distrubuted throughout the Triad and are met with a warm response.
February 2004:
Slappin Grama are looking to the future, and I'm looking at a computer screen. After a number of shows and with a newfound word of mouth following, Slappin Grama can next be seen on March 18th at Ziggy's..

The original Slappin Grama drumset. This was the set that helped start the band. It was retired in the fall of 2003.
