Day 2: Phoenix to Glen Canyon Dam
We rode 260 miles today from Phoenix to the spectacular Glen Canyon Dam. We started early in the AM and beat the heat riding mostly country roads. The temperature didn't reach 100 degrees F till we arrived in Page, AZ. We've learned to think of anything less than 100 deg F as truly balmy!

The town of Page was built for the crews which built the Glen Canyon Dam. The town went up in the 1950's. The dam itself opened in 1963. It took until 1980 till the the lake created behind the dam, Lake Powell, finally became full.

The ride to Glen Canyon was just beautiful, and the dam is truly astonishing.
