Gattlenburgh, TN
This was a fun voyage. My friend Paul & I went to The Great Smokey Mts. in Tenn.for four days. We attempted to hike up to the Apalation Trail, but fell short because of the relentless rain. After a comprehensive tutorial in wet weather survival, we headed to Greenville, S.C. for the Lake Eden Arts Festival and a $1000 slam. (that I didn't win)
Getting started
This is the TRAIL people! the RIVER is off to the right. Roaring like mad. As if to say "You'll never crest this mountain!"
To put it in perspective, it rained for three days straight. And when it rains on a mountain... gravity happens. We could feel the boulders rumbling around as the river moved them. Like standing on thunder.
A breather under a convenient rock
"Hey! Lets do this again next year!!"
Durring a brief break in the weather, we unpacked & tried to dry some things out.
After three very wet days on the mountain, we desperately needed to trash this hotel room. It was very cathardic.
