INDY BOWL I GAME RESULTS

BISHOP TOWN 33, AMSTERDAM 27

WINNING COACH: BILL DEARING

Bishop Town would start off with the ball moving down the field, and take the lead when Farve hits Driver with a 12 yard TD pass and they have the early 7-0 lead. Amsterdam would take the ball and come right back down the field but would fumble the ball away. Their second drive would end up with the same results so after 2 drives they have almost 100 yards of offense but no points to show for it. The defenses would take over and the 1st quarter would end with Bishop Town leading 7-0

Amsterdam would get on the board in the 2ND when they would drive 75 yards capped off by a 1 yard plunge by D. Staley and we are tied at 7. Bishop Town would get the ball and mount their own 75 yard drive taking just over 9 minutes, and 15 plays before E. James would run in a TD from 2 yards out and Bishop Town would take the lead 14-7. Amsterdam would bring out their 2 minute drill and move down and hit a 48 yard FG and they only trail 14-10 at the half.

Half way thru the 3RD quarter Bishop town would mount a drive but have to settle for a Mare 21 yard FG and lead 17-10. Amsterdam would come right back down but also would have the drive stall, and have to settle for a 46 yard FG, and at the end of 3 quarters Bishop town would cling to a slim 17-13 lead.

Bishop would have the ball to start the 4th quarter and noone could predict the fourth quarter that would lay ahead. Bishop Town would drive 60 yards in 7 plays and E. James breaks a tackle and runs in a TD from 6 yards out. Bishop Town would lead 24-13 with 11 minutes to go in the game, and their bench was showing signs of a pending celebration which would be short lived.  Dwight would take the kickoff at the 9 yard line and run it back 91 yards for a TD to pull within 5 points, but when the 2 point conversion fails to pull them within 3 they still trail by 5 points with just under 11 minutes to go in the game. Bishop Town would be called for a illegal block on the kickoff and start deep in their territory. Farve would lead them down the field on a 14 play 80 yard drive taking 8:33 off the clock but stall and have to settle for a Mare 21 yard FG which would give Bishop Town an 8 point lead 27-19 with only 2:14 left in the game Amsterdam, and McNabb would not die though and McNabb would strike like lightening on a 3 play drive covering 67 yards in only 31 seconds as McNabb runs it in from 3 yards out, and after a McNAbb bootleg converts the 2 point conversion the game is tied at 27 with 1:09 to go in the game. Everyone in the stadium but Bishop Town's offense was thinking overtime, and 1:06, and 3 timeout later Farve sets up Mare to try a 36 yard FG with 3 seconds left on the clock, and the chance to win the game. The kick is shanked to the right and we are still heading to OVERTIME.

Amsterdam would win the toss and promptly move the ball onto Bishop town's side of the field. On a 2ND and 10 Bishop town would record their first sack of the game, and then a 11 yard completion would leave Amsterdam facing a 4TH, and 4 yards to go at the Bishop Town 40 yard line. Forced to go for it McNabb would face great coverage, and try to scramble for the first down, but the measurement came up short and Bishop Town takes over and drives the ball down where they have a 1ST and goal when Coach Bill Dearing is debating to try the FG right then, but Farve gets upset, and the coach listens to the veteran and leaves the offense out there and it pays off when E. James takes it into the end zone from 1 yard out and Bishop Town wins the game 33-27.

WOW what a game and my hat is off to Bob Gale for such a hard fought game including a big come back in the forth quarter? It is game slike this we live for and what a treat it was to play in this one.  BILL D>
