INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS

IFL Commissioner Jeff Spencer

Bio:

My name is Jeff Spencer and I'm the commissioner of the Indiana Football League. This league is an offshoot of the baseball league I started, the Indiana Baseball League. Our baseball league just finished its fifth year and has been a rewarding and enjoyable experience. I expect this league to be just as successful and fun.

I am 26 years old, married with two children and another on the way, and I teach 7th grade social studies and coach cross country and track at the varsity high school level.

The Camby Colts are named in honor of my current residence and my favorite NFL team. Camby is a "town" less than 10 miles outside of Indy. There is really only a post office which gives it "town" status.

The Colts have always been my favorite team. In early grade school, I also followed the Bears with Walter Payton my favorite player. The Colts were horrid then and I remember 1-15, 3-13, etc. Jeff George, Eric Dickerson, Duane Bickett, Albert Bently, Billy Brooks, the list goes on. Fortunately for the Colts, Peyton Manning, Tony Dungy, Bill Polian and company have led us to a golden era in Indy. Now, if we can just get by those darn Pats:)

I enjoy reading(50+ books last year), taking naps(not enough anymore), and I'm a sports fanatic. I love pretty much any sport because of the human drama. I'm a big follower of the Colts, Pacers, Reds, and Indiana Hoosiers(7th Soccer Title

Football might be my favorite sport because of the strategy involved. In baseball simulation leagues, drafting and trading are the major parts. While I love that and I've had some success, football with such a big impact a coach can make is an intriguing challenge.
