| Climbing Pyramids for Performance and Goal-Setting I have been doing pyramids for my climbing since I got the idea from How to Climb 5.12. In the back the book has some pyramids to log your progression in your climbing. The principle is logical. Build up a strong base of climbs with more easy climbs on bottom to become solid before attempting your goal climbing grade (on top.) You're supposed to fill out each row at a time, entering the climb and date in the appropriate block. Below I've made an example of a pyramid I'm working on to help with choosing grades to put in your box. Use the pyramid for whatever you want! Sport, Trad, Ice, Aid, Bouldering, or any other outlet that has standard grades to set and meet goals. It gives me a certain satisfaction to fill out each route and row. I'm sure I'll feel really good when I completely fill up a pyramid and met a goal. Good Luck! For more info Contact me and ask or check out the book How to Climb 5.12 By Eric J. Horst.
