What's the story with the Arrow chip (11010me)?

It performs great, and it's inexpensive.

It's also rumored to be the exact same chip that is shipped standard in some European Milles. To check this out, I compared a file given to me by an Italian Mille owner that was supposed to be from his year 2000 stock Mille. It was byte for byte identical to an Arrow chip borrowed from a US dealer.

So, if you have means of borrowing someone's stock chip from a European 1999 or 2000 RSV, or 2001 RSVR and it has checksum 0x7868 (probably marked "A63"), don't buy the Arrow chip.

Who copied who is a subject for debate.
