3 Prime League clubs - Sembawang Rangers, Sengkang Marines & Gombak United - attempt to join the Singapore Cup has been cut short by FAS as they were deem not good enough to do the job.

The Prime league teams feel that entering the Singapore Cup will be a good experience for the youngsters. They also felt that they are better prepared than the amateur NFL clubs who are allowed to joined the Singapore Cup.

This year Singapore Cup will already see 3 NFL clubs - Police SA, Tampines Rovers & Sembawang SA - competing in it.

However FAS fear this will result in ill-matched games which will hurt the S-league. Also S-league CEO Chan King Fook said only Sembawang Rangers had indicated they were prepare to join the Singapore Cup.

Sembawang Rangers had promised to import 4 Thai players to boost their squad if allowed to join
